D & D ROOFING

I was selling my house and the buyer was required to get a 2 year roof certification on the roof in order to have their loan underwritten. They hired a roofing contractor to inspect the roof. They returned a report stating that the roof defective due to cracked tiles. The report also (erroneously) stated that the construction method used (Bartile) is obsolete, and that no roofer would even be able to repair it. Of course the inspector offered to replace the roof for $25k! I asked the buyer to give us a week to get a second opinion. I called several roofing companies who specialize in repairing tile roofs. I interviewed five of them seriously, and got estimates from three of them, including D&D. Both of the other bids I got were CONSIDERABLY higher, and neither of those other contractors would guarantee that they could match the broken tiles needing replaced. Then I had Dave Durica come out from D&D roofing. Dave is a VERY experienced roofer who is definitely "old school". He was very professional, and really listened to me when I told him I only wanted to have the broken tiles replaced, and get the 2 year certificate. Unlike the other contractors I spoke to, Dave understood that I am selling the house, and he did not try to upsell me on additional services. I really appreciated the fact that he understood my situation. Dave also said he would do his best to find identical or near-identical matching tiles from his "bone yard" provider. He warned me that this may not be cheap, but he was the only one willing to make the effort to get a match for a relatively small job. What impressed me the most is that Dave got the whole got staged, scheduled, and completed very quickly. He understood that we were in escrow at the time, and that time was of the essence. Once he got the necessary tiles, Dave was back out to the property and got the repair job completed in ONE DAY. This is much faster than the others had quoted me. Even better, he explained how so many tiles (50) had been broken by contractors who had walked on them incorrectly over time. After installing new windows, insulation, and siding with different contractors over the years, it's easy to see how this happened. But it also helps me give my buyer confidence that the roof was not defective, but just damaged. Dave actually provided me a THREE year certificate on the roof, which my buyer was delighted by. It's great to work with a reliable, small local company who does great work, charges very reasonable rates, and scopes the job to the need. Very refreshing... I would recommend D&D for future roof work to anyone, and I will definitely hire them again!

My real test for service providers is how they handle the situation when things go wrong. Our lightweight tile roof was installed 18 years ago just before we purchased our house. It was roofed with an unusual technique, particular to a roofer who is no longer in business. We had a considerable leak near the fireplace. We interviewed several other roofers who either wouldn’t try or wouldn’t guarantee various possible fixes that ranged from a few hundred dollars to a $2500. Most said the only solution was a whole new roof. 

Since economics are a big consideration for us at this time, I was thrilled that David was willing to try his hand at it. Unfortunately, he was unable to fix it. I did not hold this against him, as the roofing method was unorthodox. My husband and I were extremely impressed with his integrity in not accepting our payment since he was unable to improve or remedy the situation.

For this reason, I give D&D an A rating, even though the repair attempt didn’t work. In the big picture, David’s willingness to try without success and the refusal of others to work on the roof were closed doors that helped me figure out which ones to open next. I had heard that the original roofer had a family business, and I wondered if any of his relatives carried it on. Turns out his son did and his crew still uses the signature family method. We finally got our roof fixed, and D&D was an important part in this complex puzzle to get to customer satisfaction. We thank David for being open-minded and such an honest man. He would be our first recommendation for any kind of standard roofing work.

D&D came out the same morning as I discovered the leak. Dave fit me in between service calls, got up on the roof and quickly IDed the problem and fixed it. He was in and out of my property in less than an hour. Cost was normal for California living. Thanks Dave!

Noticed a water stain on my family room ceiling, so I phoned Dand D today. A very polite lady answered my call and informed me that her husband would call me back. David, her husband, called me back within just a few minutes, and asked some questions about my problem. On spite of being a Saturday, within an hour or so he was at my home, and promptly identified the source of the problem and fixed it. David is professional and courteous, and charged a very reasonable fee for his service. I would definitely use him again in the future and recommend him to others.

Called Dand D, David was out the next day. He identified what he need to perform repairs, provided an estimate, then came out the next day to repair the roof.
He was prompt, on time, quick, professional, reasonable, very knowledgeable about his work, thorough, and did the work very competently, without trying to upsell. Very, very reasonably priced. He does excellent work, and I would use him again.

Contacted Dand D and they were out the next day for an estimate which was reasonable. Work was scheduled and completed the very next day. I trust this contractor which, in my experience, is hard to find. Their business card is now on my refrigerator because I've now found a roofing contractor I will use in the future.

WE HAD ADDITIONAL WORK DONE IN DEC 2014 AND JAN 2015, MORE LEAK AND TILE ROOF REPAIR. OUTSTANDING SERVICE, GREAT WORK VALUE FOR THE MONEY, I WILL NOT HESITATE TO UTILIZE HIS SERVICES IN THE FUTURE, IN FACT HE WILL BE THE FIRST AND I AM SURE THE ONLY, ONE I WILL CALL.-

Dave was easy to work with and reliable. After I signed the contract it rained continuously for two weeks. The delay was frustrating, but Dave started the job the first day the weather cleared. He does careful, quality work and can be trusted to keep his word and stand by his work.

Dave was very pleasant. He showed up when he said he would, and even completed the work ahead of schedule! He was very knowledgeable and didn't try to sell me things I didn't need, which I really appreciate. I would highly recommend this company.

I WAS VERY IMPRESSED WITH HOW QUICKLY THEY CAME TO MY HOUSE. THEY CAME DURING A REALLY BAD STORM AND WERE HERE REPAIRING THE ROOF IN 60 MILE AN HOUR WINDS. THEIR PRICE WAS ALSO AMAZING DUE TO THE CIRCUMSTANCES.
