Due to a personal emergency, Mike had to delay my project a bit but made up for the wait by throwing in stamped concrete for free! This turned out beautiful and was much better than my initial plans to just match an existing 30 year old concrete pool deck with a rock salt finish. After the work was complete, despite Mike doing several "extras" that were not on the original quote (on top of the stamping, he added a brick border to match the flow of the existing hard-scape), there were no extras charges on my bill. Imagine that!
After I let Mike know during the patio construction that I wasn't thrilled with the look of my old and worn out pool deck, he then proceeded to offer me multiple options with quotes to re-surface and repair it to make it look new without having to tear the whole thing out. I wasn't planning on doing this any time soon, but after being impressed by the quality and beauty of my new patio, he offered me a price where I couldn't say no. I went with a less expensive 'Kool-Deck' option (compared to a stamped overlay) that covered up all the cracks and imperfections of the existing concrete while adding a colored texture which has made it look great!
Finally, my driveway was majorly cracked and lifted and Mike again offered me a deal to replace it with beautiful stamped concrete. Angie's list will occasionally offer 'deals' to replace driveways and Mike's price not only beat these "deal" prices but including colored stamping as well plus a new side walk. I went with a granite look and I must say it has turned out awesome!
In closing, I want to mention a few other things I learned about Mike Le Master while having him work on my house. He's an expert in this field. He's been in the concrete business for over 30 years but has just relocated from Georgia after 18 years living there. I attribute his fair pricing to coming from Georgia as compared to most of the California contractors that feel they can rip us off since California housing prices are so high (especially where I live in OC). I believe my patio was his first job in So. Cal since moving here. He personally shows up and does the work (no subcontractors) with his own crew. He takes pride in his work and it shows. He listens to what you want to do and will offer great advice if you need suggestions on what will look good. The quality is top notch. I have a relative in the concrete industry that recently visited my house and he mentioned how impressed he was with the quality of the concrete work that I had done. Put this all together and you can't go wrong with using Mike Le Master for any of your concrete needs IMO.
