I called Vern to confirm that his shop was open. When I got there he was with a customer and I waited. He took a great deal of time talking to the customer and reassuring him. Then he did the same for me. He told me about my clock's company history and showed me examples of ones that had not been properly cared for. I told him about my family's history with the clock and how important it was to me. He told me how it needed to be overhauled every ten years and that it hadn't been done in awhile. It took Vern about 2 weeks to overhaul my clock and that is the exact estimate that he gave me. He also gave me a fixed price for the overhauled and offered 5% discount for green cash. I am thrilled with the results and his work. Unfortunately he has been in the business for 44 years and is likely to retire soon. I don't know what I'll do in ten years for the next overhaul.
