The sales person, JR Pentolino, the owners son, very friendly and professional made an excellent first impression. however they promised a lifetime guarantee and outstanding customer service, which is absolutely not the case. The job was rescheduled multiple times and every time I called to get updates, no one seemed to know anything. Then when they came to install, the casings were peeling the black paint, one of the windows was broken, and the job was sloppy. JR came out to personally inspect and gave his word that it all would be fixed, specially after I sent him multiple pictures of the terrible job. However, when the workers finally came back to “fix” it, the guy in charge of the job said that he was not approved to fix all that mess they made! The quality of work on the casings and installation was not even close to what was promised. After several more attempts to get JR to take responsibility, he finally asked that we hire our own people and sent us a check for $400, million hitch didn’t cover a 1/3 of the cost we ended paying. We’re going to call the Better Business Bureau to report them. Agree with the comments from others that they lack integrity, make promises they can't keep, do poor quality work and refuse to follow through.

Our house has lots of windows however they were all original to the house which was built in 1988. With no sunlight or UV protection, the windows urgently needed to be replaced. After shopping around, we decided on Design Windows & Doors because of their initial consultation with the owner JR. He was attentive, listened to our goals, worked with our budget to present multiple options, and was extremely up front/transparent during the process. The final product was incredible! We had 22 windows and a patio door replaced, with the windows being Simonton products and the door being Pro-Via. Our house looks and feels like a new place! The curb appeal is beautiful, the products are terrific, and we are very happy. I would highly recommend Design Windows & Doors; in fact, we will use them again for our other doors in the house in the future.

While the overall quality of the windows was great, the process was long and painful. We ordered two windows and one slider with blinds inside The sales man added laminated glass at our request and then we found out later that you can’t get laminated glass with blinds inside. We paid for the balance of our windows and then needed a refund for the laminated glass and that took forever with many back-and-forths with our sales guy and the main office. It was extremely frustrating! The time was lengthened by a second remeasure and that guy said the slider would not fit. After a third remeasure it was decided it could but the process was delayed. The install was scheduled for one day but took them six hours to do one slider and a kitchen window so they couldn’t do the third window that day. They rescheduled for the following week But then canceled the day before and pushed it out another two weeks! The installers were good and professional but the process was less than desirable! I therefore cannot give a recommendation for this company. We actually ordered two additional sliding doors from another company AFTER we had already purchased the three with Design Windows and that company got those 2 sliders/windows installed and completed without issue BEFORE our first install was even scheduled with design windows. So there you have it. If you want a pleasant experience with windows or doors I recommend a different company who will deliver on their promises!

After having an issue with his supplier the contractor without any cost to me gave me upgraded windows on a rush basis and did excellent work. I had two homes done, a total of 13 windows installed in one day Very professional, careful with your property and clean up afterwards.

I am happy with it. I was not happy with the company, but I was happy with the product. Basically, it all boils down to being that they told me I was getting a specific style window which was supposed to be a high-end window and my home is an older home. It is cinder block so it is kind of different with odd sized windows and stuff. I ended up having two different style windows and only one is the top-of-the-line one and the rest of them are lower-end ones. It was basically a lack of communication on their part. They did not tell me that. Other than that, the windows are great. They are a lot better than what I had before. The price was a pretty good price.

All dealing with company went well.
only comment is that only the first bid the salesman did not enclude the sales tax so the final price was a little shocking.
The price was still very good.
The worki was part of a home improvement loan w/CalVet and at the end the company did not want to wait the three days for their payment. In our case this was no problem, but for some this could be. This something that should be discus befor hand.

The quote from James was very competitive and he was informative,
punctual and professional.  I was a bit weary after reading these
reviews and decided not to move forward.  I was quoted with Milguard
windows and I've heard they aren't bad.  I just with with a more
competitive offer.

The sales person, JR Pentolino, the owners son, very friendly and professional made an excellent first impression. They were not the least expensive; however they promised a lifetime guarantee, outstanding customer service. And he is a likeable person. The job was rescheduled twice; the lead on the job was over 3 hours late. We were promised a two day install it was over four and over 10 visits to get the casings in-the casings were painted with different color paint, the job was sloppy. The owner Joe, and his son, JR came out to personally inspect and gave their word that it all would be fixed. After several more attempts we gave up. The quality of work on the casings and installation was not even close to what was promised. After several more attempts to get information, doors and windows fixed that malfunctioned in the first 60 days - and getting no response, we made a report to the Better Business Bureau. The 12 foot $3,000 slider was reinstalled-However it took several visits and more of our time to stay home and wait for the worker as Design windows did not send him with the right materials. I have requested copies of the square footage and e-values of the windows so I can finish my rebate with DWP, they have not followed through. We have made several calls to design windows and doors, following the procedure - so they can call the manufacturer, the manufacturer will not take calls from consumers, no return calls. Today, I spoke to the owner on the phone; he yelled through the phone - "What did you think would happen when you called the BBB on us! Find your own way to fix the problems..!!!!" I would not recommend this company. They lack integrity, make promises they can't keep, do poor quality work and refuse to follow through.
