My neighbor hired Dean Adams to replace the fence where a couple of fence posts had rotted causing approx. 20 foot section to fall over. He worked on it for 2 days. I paid the second day of his labor charge that he said was $40.00/hr. I probably would hire him myself if his per hour charge was more reasonable. Come on, it's a fence - it's not rocket science!

The experience was great, Dean was there exactly when he said he'd be, was prepared, he drew up some quick plans so that when he ordered parts, etc., it went really smoothly.
He was able to think of some smart solutions to a few challenges we had in the way our pipes etc were set up. He has quite a lot of experience doing these sorts of projects (irrigation, sprinklers, plumbing, wiring, etc) but he has also has experience doing other kinds of projects (e.g., electrical, other repairs) which I'm sure is going to come in handy in future when we need additional help on other things. Having that sort of broad experience really helps with any project.
Because all of this is set up right near the house we wanted to make sure to have someone working on it who had a good amount of experience with these sorts of tasks (risk of water damage to the house if things weren't set up just right). Dean has quite a lot of experience and knowledge with these kinds of projects, seeing his workmanship I knew it was set up right and wouldn't ever need to be re-visited. He has good sources of good quality parts at reasonable price-points; he didn't have to go out of town on long trips to gather up parts.
His rates are very good especially considering the years experience he has. He was good with the details, was conscientious, professional, and a nice guy to work with. After finishing the irrigation project he also shared some advice about care of fruit trees, another topic he knows quite a bit about. He does a lot of work here around Ojai so he knows quite a bit about the area, irrigation needs, etc.
(This garden has 6 zones, with combination of regular pop-up sprinklers and low-volume (drip-line) irrigation.)
