Brad, was on time, understood the painting work to be done (first time, without questions or repeats needed) and started at it immediately, worked hard and wasted no time.  He was very nice to the tenant in the building, he is a very pleasant family man, he did all the work we requested, without any baggage (so to speak) and I will be very happy to have Brad back again.  I believe you will be as happy with his work as I was.

I called about my rental property in California (I am in Georgia). Brad called back within 15 minutes. He had a cancellation so he called my renters and showed up within an hour. He fixed the toilet and another item the renter needed fixed. I paid him using PayPal which was really simple and convenient since I am out of state. I was looking for a Handyman that I can call when needed and I plan to call Brad in the future.

Brad arrived 15 minutes late on the scheduled morning. He arrived with very dirty boots and when I asked him to either take off his shoes or put on some shoe covers he seemed very put out.
He came into my living room where he promptly took out his phone and started blaring a broadcast with Rush Limbaugh. He started with hanging 2 curtain brackets , placing a heavy dirty ladder on the bottom of my white curtains (which I later had to have cleaned). When he was done, I noted that the curtain rods were uneven. He just said "Wow, you're really anal" -and didn't bother to straighten them out.
He moved on to the bedroom where I needed him to hang another curtain rod (Rush still blaring in the background). This rail went up evenly, but when he strung the freshly cleaned and ironed curtains on the rod, he first set them in a pile of dust which was under the bed ( we had just moved the mattress 15 min earlier to allow him access and had not yet vacuumed). He also left dirty smudge and pencil marks on the wall at the end of one of the rods and did not clean it up until I gave him a cleaner and a rag and asked he go back up on the ladder to clean it. He had done the same thing on the previous curtain rail in the living room (which I later had to clean up).
He then moved on to the bathroom where I had him hang two custom mirrored cabinets. He did not put anything under them to protect them and ended up chipping the corner of one of them. He also scratched up my brand new toilet seat by stepping on it with his rough work boots (which had somehow lost the shoe protectors. I'd provided him at the front door.) When I said something about the toilet seat,he didn't apologize- and seemed quite put out that I would say anything.. He did not clean up the mirrors or any of the dust from drilling (which made a big mess) or even put the shelves back in the cabinets.
Lastly, I asked him to hang a  heavy wall sculpture outside in a stairwell used by several small children. I told him to be sure to use toggle bolts  and not the small plastic anchors he had already tried to use for the bathroom cabinets. When I came out to check on him 20 min later, I saw that he had indeed used the plastic anchors which are rated at only 10 pounds to hang a 70 pound hanging! He said not to worry, it would hold, but when I tried, I could pull out his hooks out of the wall with one finger! In an effort to get things finished up safely and quickly, my husband stepped in to help Brad install the hanging wit h our toggle bolts. What usually takes my other handyman 10 min took almost an hour! Again, he left a huge mess on the floor of the stairwell and did not clean it up
At this point we had had enough and decided to cut short our to-do list. I was so upset that I did not notice that he overcharged me by half an hour -including the 15 minutes he was late and not to mention the almost hour he took for the two hooks to hang the outdoor hanging!  He did tell me to take off for the toilet seat, but now I have to re-order , pick-up, and install.
Yesterday we had a security system put in throughout our property and even though the three guys were in and out all day to run the camera wire, cameras, etc, they never once made anything dirty and always took off their shoes when entering the house- without my ever saying a word. I think that's what a good service provider does- they take care of the problem you hired them to do without creating new work or problems for you after the job is finished.
I find it very hard to believe this is the same Brad Schmidt whose reviews I read. Something is really off here. In any case I would highly recommend staying stay clear of this company.
Response from Brad Schmidt Handyman
"Here is what [Member Name Removed] does NOT say: 1) I had called [Member Name Removed] before arriving to tell her that I was having trouble finding her house, as house numbers on her street are not in numeric order and she lives on a flag lot, making it hard to find. 2)My work shoes were NOT dirty but were well used. I had new boots on order when I was at her house but they had not arrived yet. They came several days later. 3) My work ladder is not dirty, but again well used. I did not place the ladder on her curtains. If the bottom of her curtains was dirty, perhaps it is because many of the floors in her home do not have flooring installed, but are bare cement covered by paper. 4) I did listen to the radio on my phone as I was working, since I was alone in the room. If she had told me that this was disconcerting to her, I certainly would have turned it off. 5) As you can see from her review, she really is anal (as am I). I can usually joke with a fellow obsessive, but apparently not this time!! 6) The curtains were uneven because her curtain rod was real wood, and it had warped. 7) Obviously, I did not set clean curtains in a pile of dust. One had slipped off of the bed (there were 8 sheer and very slippery curtains) and of course I picked it up as soon as possible. 8) I did not chip the corner of the cabinet in question because the chip was in a spot where I had never rested it or set it down. I had only placed it on the back of the toilet before hanging and the edge that was chipped was in mid air. I did, however, gladly repair the chip. 9) I did offer to pay for the toilet seat. She deducted $30 from my payment for a new toilet seat. I am hoping that she purchased a better seat than the one that was on it originally! 10) She had not planned ahead to get fasteners for her heavy wall hanging. When this happens, I try to be accomodating with the fasteners I have with me, so I don't have to charge the customer for my time to go to the store. Sometimes in unusual circumstances, it takes some ingenuity to get a job done. This is what happened here. I did try several different things before we came up with a solution that worked well. This is actually what I thrive at, is problem solving. Unfortunately, it sometimes takes several attempts. I would have never left the hanging in a state that was not safe, as she implies. 11) I asked her husband to help with the hanging of this heavy object. I could not have done it without help 12) If I don't clean up after every mini-project on a job, I circle through later to clean up. As I was summarily dismissed in this case, I was unable to finish up as I normally would. This includes double checking that there are not marks on walls that can be seen etc. Many of my customers do not want to pay me do do cleaning, which they can do themselves. [Member Name Removed] was coming after me cleaning, vacuuming etc already, so I could move on to the next project. 13) After the large heavy wall hanging was done (remember she was so upset that she cut short the to do list), she had me do at least one additional project - hanging another heavy mirror on an inside wall. 14) As a psychologist, [Member Name Removed] doesn't do too well. She misinterpreted my lack of reaction to "being put out". I was merely not reacting. 15) I have a habit of checking with the customer to make sure that there is nothing that I have missed doing. Again, I was unable to do this, as they suddenly decided that they had to leave immediately. BOTTOM LINE: As in most of life, a little communication goes a long way in avoiding misunderstandings and bad feelings. Virtually all of [Member's Name Removed] concerns could have been easily addressed and resolved at the time, cheerfully, if given a chance. But it can't be done with mind reading, guessing, and revenge reviews. If that is your approach to relationships, please do not call on me."

Brad was really nice and professional.  He was on time and went straight to work.  I wasn't sure what side garage door to buy and he went and purchased it for me. I was really impressed with his willingness to do that and he also went to two places to shop for the best deal for the door.  He gave me a detail of everything that was purchased.  Brad went above and beyond my expectations.  I will definitely call him with more projects:)!  Being a single mom I expect I will have a lot!

Brad Schmidt responded to my inquiry regarding the services of a Handyman immediately.  We exchanged e-mails and I received confirmation on the scheduled day and time to do this job.  Brad arrived promptly at the designated time.  He worked at a brisk pace and performed all the installation work in a professional manner.  Everything was completed in less than 2 hours.  I consider it more than a bargain to receive all this quality work in exchange for $100.00.  For any type of similar services I highly recommend Brad Schmidt.

Brad did an excellent reviving my 14 year old fence and
helping me get some additional life out of it.
Half of my fence was leaning do to rotted posts which he repaired and
did some additional patching in other areas as well.  His work exceeded my expectations and my
neighbor was very happy with the job as well.
I would use him again for this or any other work in future.

Brad was on time , he looked at the job and got right to work tearing out old dried wood.  He then measured and went to lumber yard , came back and cut and installed new beams. He then primed the beams and while the beams were drying  Brad went to a drying shed we have for  macadamia nuts and fixed the wooden  door while waiting for beams to dry.  He then painted the beams to match the rest of the balcony .  He was great!

We have had mostly good success using Angie's List vendors, but Brad has set a new standard!  He arrived at the scheduled time, we discussed the task list, and he went immediately to work.  Brad was thoroughly professional and had a great disposition.  He was totally focused on the tasks at hand and moved smoothly from item to item in a manner that insured the critical path would be met.  We threw in some "oh, by the ways" that Brad handled with ease, never loosing his focus or his smile.  We will highly recommend Brad Schmidt to family and friends.  He is the single best experience we have had using AL vendors.

Brad was very responsive to my calls and was able to come out the next day.  He was very polite, knowledgeable, and punctual.  He came in discussed what parts we needed and was off.  He installed for the remainder of the afternoon, and was even able to alter, change, and do a little extra to get the job done.  To add to it, he even came back a few days later to make sure all of the plumbing was water tight.  Great handyman, and we will be using him again.

Brad was able to fit us in right away for a portion of the job and then scheduled completion. The first visit he removed the old lighting fixtures , assembled and installed the new ones. On the pergola, he jacked up the structure, cut off the rotted ends of the posts, and installed raised concrete footers to keep the wood posts off the ground and in contact with water. The second visit he stripped the peeling paint from the heavily weathered cross slats, replaced those which were rotted, and repainted the entire structure. We were very pleased with his work, his professionalism and his work ethic We will hire him again for handyman jobs and heartily recommend him to others.

We had originally contracted with another handyman who was injured and couldn't perform the work. He made arrangements with Brad to take over the job, subject to our approval. Brad contacted us the day before he said he would be coming, came when he said he would, and worked professionally throughout. We would hire him again for handyman jobs.
