He and his helper were meticulous in cutting and installing the tile, involving me in some necessary changes as they went along. Every tile was perfectly level. The glass mosaic was also perfectly level, and neatly set so no mortar was left between the joints to show when set. The grout (light gray) was a perfect choice to set off the tile. I was thrilled with the results - it looked like a design magazine when finished. He and his helper had minimal waste because they were careful with planning and cutting.
Steve has a very professional manner, and insists on perfection in his work. He arrived on time, finished on time, and cleaned up the worksite at the end of each day. I recommend him without reservation.l
Steve Davenport was a dream to work with. He was focussed, fast-working (but NOT sloppy) and punctual. His attention to quality and detail exceeded that of any other contractor I've worked with. His knowledge of construction and plumbing was excellent. He figured out problems that didn't have an easy fix (lack of clear instructions with the tub kit for example). He noticed that the wall framing (original to the house) would require furring out before the walls went up and got them perfectly straight. He took out the partially installed kit walls and started over. The plumbing had to be moved slightly to accomodate the kit, and the previous contractor didn't do it correctly. Steve fixed it so everything was aligned perfectly and no more burned studs from the sweating. His plumbing work was actually pretty as well as functional. He also fixed a serious framing error so the new plumbing wouldn't rattle in the walls after completion and no cut studs left hanging (which even I know is not a good thing when you see no support)..
Steve went with me to the big box store and recommended a tile that looked great. I was lost in choices - he suggested a porcelain tile that looked like travertine (at a fraction of the price). I only had to pick one of 4 choices of colors. Done, easy, out of the store in an hour. He recommended a different tile treatment around the existing vanity (cheaper than my idea) and it looked fabulous when done..
The end result was a redo that met my budget, was done on time (finally) and looked like a much more expensive job than it was. Steve is honest, and easy to work with. His quote was accurate, and when I asked for changes, he was upfront about extra time and costs. Steve is the kind of contractor everyone wishes they had.
