At Chris Fortner Construction we work on everything from big renovations to small repairs. From the foundation to the roof we are a complete home repair and remodeling company. We will help develop a plan to complete your project and take care of it from start to finish. Our team includes expertise in all major areas of home construction, including: windows and doors, electrical, plumbing, kitchen and bathroom fixtures, concrete and carpentry. We handle major structural repairs, foundation repairs and earthquake retrofitting. We provide repairs to siding and stucco, as well as outdoor carpentry work, including decks, fences and stairs. Repairing or remodeling your home can be both demanding and exciting, and we understand how important the work is to you when you call in a contractor to improve or maintain your home. We aim to provide innovative and cost-effective solutions where possible, while providing straightforward advice regarding the scope and timeline of your project.

A little over budget, went a little long, as much my fault as anyone else’s. End result was exactly what I wanted and Chris cared enough about the project to make that happen.

I find Chris great to work with and we’ve used him for years. He listens to what I want and gives me options in terms of what is feasible and affordable. We’ve used him to replace windows, rebuild our porch and to put in a new bathroom. He works hard to ensure you’re happy and that the job is done properly. The biggest issue we’ve had over the years is scheduling him because he’s busy.

Chris was flexible in time and with major scope changes and kept his prices very competitive. He and his crew did a great job of working steadily and cleaning up after each day’s work. They were able to solve problems and make all parts of the project come together as I envisioned. After talking about it for many years, we recently did a major remodel on our badly outdated kitchen. Our designers, Paragon Kitchen & Bath, recommended Fortner Construction. After meeting with Chris Fortner and reviewing his proposal, we hired him as our contractor. We were very pleased with our decision. Chris listened to our goals, understood our vision, and worked closely with Paragon in executing our design. Along the way, he gave some creative suggestions that enhanced the design, he coordinated specialty contractors, and he stepped in to manage some of the inevitable “surprises” that arise when working on an older house. He and his crew were conscientious about doing high-quality work while minimizing the disruption and mess. The transformation of our kitchen was remarkable, and we are greatly enjoying the results.

Chris and crew did an amazing job. Feel like I am in a new house. My house was built in 1920s so there were a number of challenges along the way. Chris dealt with them efficiently and economically as possible.

Chris and his crew were extremely professional and easy to be around. Though routine for them, they all were very sensitive to how disruptive our project was for us and accommodated. Chris was able to understand my concepts for the job then worked solutions that usually met or exceeded my expectations. The job progressed steadily, maybe not the fastest crew overall, but the quality of the work was excellent, I never felt delayed and they were always open and responsive to my needs and concerns

In general it went very well. The owner, Chris, was always very honest and reliable. In addition his estimated prices were almost always at the lower end of the bids which we received and were reliably honored unless there was some material change or severe complication with the project. He is quite knowledgeable and inventive, and if something is encountered outside of his experience, he puts the time in to research it and come up with a solution. In one particular case of a driveway bridge, everyone else was saying that we needed a trench-drain between the bridge and the garage, however, we had a problem with the previous drain where it was leaking and damaging the garage structure. Chris put some thought into it and came up with a unique design for a solid-concrete driveway (with sealed expansion seams) sloped and shaped so that all runoff would drain into a scupper at a particular spot. This definitively solved the problem. No one else had even thought of such a solution.

It went great! Chris and his team are very professional and responsive to any questions or concerns. I also hired a decorator for the unit and Chris was open to and willing to accommodate all of the designers suggestions.

My wife and I inherited the house I that I grew up in, a mid 60's mid-century rancher, which we are restoring.
Part of the project was to repair the existing back deck, built by my father. Using his plans, I redesigned and expanded it along with the companion overhang. After obtaining permits, I quickly realized the work was a bit more than my family could handle on their own.
We interviewed four contractors. Chris was the only one who understood what we were trying to do.
Not only was his price fair, but he provided ideas that were true to concept, increased the structural integrity, and substantially improved the original design.
He and his crew were prompt and hard workers. In addition, they included small details that enhanced the appeal of the deck.
In summary, on time, on budget, willing to work with us every step of the way. Just exceptional.
