I called The Window Specialists to replace our shattered window glass. Keith was very helpful in letting me know The type of company that does glass replacement. He went further to referred us to a glass repair company promptly. And he even called the company to let them know my situation. So the glass company was already familiar with me when I called. Keith was very professional and his assistant was very much appreciated.

He was nice. He helped us look at things that would have been more expensive and that maybe that wasn't necessary. He seemed like he wasn't all about the money as much as he was doing what was best for us. He was a nice guy and helpful.

Jim has been great throughout the design review and permitting process.  It has taken multiple trips to the city office and numerous submissions to gain approval for the Window project.  Through it all, Jim has kept us in the loop and and up to date.... We look forward to having Jim complete the work in the near future..

We contacted Window Specialist because of their listing in the Good Service Guide. We chose them over other contractors because the estimator educated us about the architectural history of our area and why a wooden window with elegant moldings would be a better choice than vinyl for our picture window. I took the time to look around our neighborhood and choose design elements that were appealing to me, and together we designed a beautiful custom window that enhances our home inside and out. Functional, inexpensive vinyl windows worked out fine for the back bedrooms. Installation was surprisingly quick, done in one day. The wood window still needed to be painted, a service which they do not provide, but they made a recommendation for a painter. That painter turned out to be very expensive, and we went with a different painter, with good results. We had a problem with one part of the window hardware, and one of the screens on a vinyl window, and both times they came out to fix the problem promptly.

When we wanted to do something about the windows in our 1920s-era home, The Window Specialist happened to be our first call. Jim Ford came over, and we found him to be extremely polite, friendly, and knowledgeable. Our window saga took us through considering vinyl replacements, wood replacements, and wood sash replacements. In the end, we chose window restoration -- which we're in the process of doing ourselves. Although we did not purchase windows from The Window Specialist, Jim Ford spent a lot of time over a number of weeks pricing out the various options for us when we were considering replacement windows. He provided us with detailed information about energy efficiency, tempered glass, low-e glass, wood vs. vinyl, and the stimulus package rebate. He even called us when one window manufacturer we were considering had completed its energy testing and had certified that their windows were now available for the stimulus rebate. Jim was really on the ball. I met with two other window replacement companies who weren't nearly as knowledgeable or informative. If I considered replacing my windows in the future or if I wanted to replace windows in another house, I'd happily give Jim a call.

Very solid information, communication and attention to details during process of obtaining a quote. Quote was competitive, but not the lowest. Company stressed quality of products, and service. Install was scheduled quickly. Installation resulted in several minor damages (scratches at walls, scratches at window frames, front porch, etc.) that were avoidable if crew paid more attention. Several items of order were missed: Permits were initially missing. Wrong glass in 1 window, wrong hardware on some windows, and 1 window frame damaged. Company fixed all shortcomings over following 3 months - some needed several attempts. Final outcome is great - but it took a long time going through an often frustrating process to "get it right".

Great Window Replacement Company! My wife, kids and I live in Oakland in a house built way back in the 1940s. As lovely as our house is, our steel casement old single pane windows were a drag. Every year we spent $$$s and time buying weather-strips and everything else to keep from the draft of cold air coming in, albeit in vain. The idea of replacing the windows was a very perplexing and scary thought of how expensive it could be. Finally when we saw our recent PG&E bills sky-rocket into oblivion, my wife and I decided it was time to bite the bullet and get our windows replaced. We shopped around for a few proposals. Alan Zweig from The Window Specialist was one of them that came by, articulated flawlessly the advantages, gave us an amazing price point, and the most important part was, he knew his windows very well. They are clean, professional & extremely friendly, and did a fantastic job overall!

Great! Allen and his crew were a pleasure to have around. They took care of everything from start to finish and left us with these gorgeous windows. Allen is very knowledgeable and assisted us in choosing the right windows for our needs. This was a huge investment for us and it has certainly boosted the value of our home and improved our lives tremendously.
