Everything went great. Matt showed up within a day or two of my initial call to give me an estimate, which I felt was reasonable. We subsequently revised the work scope to remove all the existing (damaged) wallboard and replace it with backer board, again at a reasonable price. His crew showed up pretty much on time, laid down plastic and cloth to keep the mess contained, and then did an excellent job ripping out the old wallboard and installing the new backer board. They worked straight through to completion, carted away all the old material, and cleaned up afterwards. I ended up with exactly what I wanted: a tile-ready back splash wall in my kitchen!
