I used Oakland Auto Works for several years after getting utterly fed up with Subaru dealer service. As a woman, going to the mechanic can be a bit of a pain, and I never felt talked down to. They took very good care of my car, were not inexpensive but fairly priced, and completely reliable. I stopped taking the car to them when I changed jobs and no longer worked in Oakland, but I would absolutely go back.

Very comprehensive. The service writer looked at our maintenance records and was very honest in making recommendations. They were very prompt in letting me know when the car was ready and good about providing transport to and from BART.

I recommend them highly. They are trustworthy and do a good job on my car. If there is something little like a light bulb or checking a valve or sparkplug or changing the time on my clock they will do it on the spot and not charge me. I've never had a problem and have been going to them for 10-15 years. I don't know how their prices compare because I don't go anywhere else.

When I arrived the Oakland Auto Works, I was immediately greeted by one of the technicians who happened to be in the office. He was cheerful and friendly and seemed genuinely happy to see me (although I had never been there before). I was then greeted by the office manager who carefully explained the evaluation and estimation processes. After I authorized the work, I took sat in their cozy waiting room on an overstuffed futon and promptly fell asleep! Twenty minutes later, the office manger was gently waking me up to let me know the work was complete. At the end of this experience, all I could think was, "Wow. Have I really only been in an auto garage?" It felt more like a spa for my car (at which I was also treated very well.) I am *so* impressed by the professionalism and courtesy at Oakland Auto Works. They'll be seeing a lot more of me, and I'm already giving referrals.

They sit down with you and explain everything they are going to do. If the estimate goes under or over they will notify me. They show you the new parts they will put in and also the old ones they have take out. They are very reliable. The only thing I wish they had was the option of a loaner car but they are willing to pick you up from the bus station and such.

I'm assuming he just does Japanese cars, based on his business card list. The place is clean. He always seems to remember who I am, and doesn't make me feel like I'm being taken advantage of.
