John has been the carpenter for my nice rental properties in Oakland for five years now. John does great work at half the cost of most finish carpenters. He made some beautiful carriage/garage doors for me, as well as beautiful window treatments for my Victorian and a redwood deck. John also makes custom tables, flower boxes and cabinets. I have saved a lot of money by using John, and have been able to put some very nice finishes on my house that I couldn't otherwise afford. John is from New York and is a 'say it as it is' type character, but don't let that fool you as he is very nice, extremely honest and good at what he does. The biggest perk though, is he really very reasonably priced and is open to negotiation. He has been doing carpentry for twenty years. He mostly works in the Piedmont/Montclair area in Oakland. That's all!
