I called and asked when someone could checkout my car's non-functional AC on a Friday afternoon when it was REALLY hot. They gave me a time that made it clear that 1) they were busy, and 2) they had a handle on exactly when they'd actually be able to look at it, and weren't just making something up. It was true. It's a nice, clean, organized place (as auto shops go, with a lovely bathroom, and kind staff. They did precisely what they said they were going to do, and didn't charge me for a diagnosis, or make me pre-pay for a part that needed to be ordered, when I was taking my car away and returning later for the repair with the part. They explained clearly and concisely what was broken, and showed it to me so I could understand. When I picked it up, the owner was out for a minute, and the staff was so sweet that if I hadn't insisted, they would have sent me off without paying for the work that had been completed at that point. My only issue with the price is that a) I'm poor, and the SF Bay Area is just too expensive, but it's not convenient to have my car fixed in Minnesota or Idaho, where I'm sure it would cost less, and b) When I left, the AC only worked for about 45 minutes, because the hose was still leaking (obviously). There was no alternative, at the time, since the hose had to be ordered and installed, and that old occur a week later for an additional 150 dollars. They did put in the labor and parts, however, and, it was very possible that, had there not been a damaged part, the initial work WOULD have been sufficient in and of itself.

I bumped into these guys a few years ago when I had a transmission problem, and a few other garages had said I needed to replace the transmission. ER assured me they could fix it for 1/2 the price. Their work is more detailed, they are more patient in their diagnosis which I completely appreciate. The car has been running beautifully since then, and now I take my car to them for every tune up and issue (I have a 10 year old Chrysler). They are completely trustworthy, and smart. I have never felt overcharged, and they seem to really care about their work. It's hard to get them on the phone at times, and their garage doesn't run as professionally as a dealer in some aspects, but the workmanship and honesty and price is completely worth it.

Being a woman, I am very aware that some mechanics will take advantage of my gender when fixing a car. So when the alternator went out on my 2001 Ford Explorer, I called several auto shops first to get an estimate to figure out how much it would cost. As expected, the Ford dealership was very expensive and some auto shops were just as expensive or on the other spectrum very low. I stayed away from the low estimates because typically that is to lure the customer in and then the final bill is a lot higher.
When I called ER Transmissions, the esitmate was in the middle. Since the shop was fairly closed to my house, I decided to go with them and I'm glad I did.The owner, Edgar, greeted me right away and explained to me what was going to be done. I decided to go to the near by Starbucks to wait and work. I eventually returned to the shop and he told me the results of the diagnostic test and that a part will be needed. I decided to go home and take a cab. However, I didn't have cash on me and Edgar offered to loan me the money which was appreciated.
When I arrived the next day, I found out the wrong part was delivered so it wasn't until the next day until I could get my car back. Edgar immediately offered to take me home and pick me up when the car was done. By the end of the day, I had my car fixed and for just a little above what was quoted to me over the phone (I needed a timing belt as well). My car is running wonderful.
Overall, I recommend ER Transmissions for their great work. But as a woman I highly recommend this shop for the honesty and will be my go to place whenever I need car work done.
Great place!
