Earle's Low Cost Electric was wonderful to work with. They helped me figure out how to install a sub panel in the most cost effective way without blowing my budget. The house was almost 90 years old and the electrical was original.
Other electricians I had quote the job seemed to stare at the electrical and scratch their head. They were not aware how to upgrade the service to circuit breakers so they couldn't even provide me a quote. So we definitely benefited from Earle's years of experience.
Earle was able to help us remove the old fuse box and install a sub panel on breakers and dedicated circuits for the kitchen remodel as required by the city.
A few weeks later, the PG&E smart meter caused a power surge that fried the kitchen light ballast as well as the garage door opener right in the middle of our first week on the market. In a panic I called Earle and he totally understood that I could not have the kitchen light not working during the open house. He did as much as he could with PG&E, testing and trouble shooting at my property with PG&E on the phone. PG&E came out and replaced the smart meter but we were still having problems. So while this was going on, Earle was dealing with a very serious and important family matter and he couldn't personally come out to help me retest with PG&E after the smart meter was replaced. So Earle very kindly called in a favor with a friend of his and asked him to come and help me as Earle's crew was tied up on other jobs. In the end, it all worked out and I am so thankful for Earle and his crew. I highly recommend them!

We bought an older house in Oakland that needed some significant upgrades and safety repairs. Earle was prompt, efficient, and attentive to opportunties to cut costs. He provided a fair quote, was willing to discuss options, arrived and finished when he said he would (working at an unoccupied house over multiple days), alerted us to the need for additional inspections and permits (PGand E), communicated with other workers on our behalf, took care of the permits and inspections for his work, and CALLED with updates and questions about our preferences! He's my BFEF-Best Friend Electrician Forever-despite the fact that we've never met in person. Old-School, High-Quality, Honest Work at fair prices--PERFECT. Thanks, Earle!

It went well. It took a few days for the first call back, but after that it was prompt.

They were very prompt, professional, and got the job done right the first time. My husband was impressed with them and thought they were very knowledgeable. They were on time and reasonably priced. We would recommend them.

We called this company from the listing on Angie's list and set up a time and date to come out and look at our porch light. They arrived a little late but were unable to install the existing light because the wiring was done incorrectly the first time and the light could no longer be used. It was very old and had been installed when we had siding put on the house several years ago and the siding company had pulled the wiring along the wall of the house to make it fit to the siding which was the wrong way to install it and not safe. Earle's electrician came back the following day and installed a new light the correct way and set it so it would come on as we exit our car.

Earle's son came out and put in a motion sensor light and a switch to our downstairs light. He was very professional and when I asked them to work on another part of the house where the original contractor had done a shoddy job they told me what would be involved with doing it and recommended that I wait until we did some other planned work so the cost wouldn't be so much. And, before they even came out Earle gave me advice on a problem I was having with a breaker downstairs that I was able to fix without them even coming out. These guys are honest, nice and do a great job. Hire them.

They were able to fix the problem after just a bit over an hour. (There was a plug in a completely different part of the house that was on the same circuit that had some wires loose and caused the rest of the plugs in the circuit to not work.) It took almost 5 days for the owner to call back and set up a time for them to come out. My only gripe. They were prompt for the appointment and cleaned up after themselves.

I asked Earle to evaluate the wiring in my 90-year-old home and give me an estimate on what it would take to bring it up to code. Happily, he said it already was up to code, and gave me an estimate on replacing two light fixtures and fixing two telephone jacks. Which he did within couple of hours a week or so later. They did the work well and I have no complaints.

I thought the price was pretty reasonable. He swept the floor when he was finished. He seemed very conscientious. He was very nice, friendly, and respectful. I was very pleased.

I liked Earle's work very much. All of his work was great. And if we had little problems we brought up to him, he'd just solve it, like the overhead light not working, and removal of the fan/light in one bedroom. And I also liked the fact that he finished the job when he said he would: 3 days later. Keep in mind that Earle's Lo-Cost Electric is basically Earle, one guy. He has a staff, but they looked and acted more like kids he brought in to learn the job. There doesn't seem to be a brick and mortar office; he works out of his car. He's super busy, mostly because he charges a bit less than others, so he might put you off, like he did me, for 4 days. But he came when he said he would, and finished when he said he would.
