Dave fit us into his very busy schedule within two weeks, and performed a visual inspection and floor level survey. He reported a stable foundation, observed settling of the chimney, gave a referral for addressing that settling, and delivered an overall reassuring evaluation that nothing serious was going on. Dave is phenomenal. He is very knowledgeable and thorough. He showed up with his assistant and neither one of them cut any corners. You can tell Dave takes pride in his work. Also, he is extremely swampped with work so you know he doesn't need to upsell you on anything. Just an honest straight shooter. Engineer Dave Olnes arrived a little early with an assistant.. After a brief introduction, the assistant started setting up an instrument to measure whether the foundation is level, while Dave and I examined the house. He asked to see cracks I found, explained possible causes (foundation related or not), and pointed out locations to monitor in case of future problems. When his assistant finished, Dave showed me the measurements at various points (corners, living room center, etc) in addition to potential problem spots. A few days later, I also received a formal report in the email. Overall, his service was excellent. The inspect result was based on not only his judgement but also objective measurements, and his explanations were clear and easy to understand.

Dave was responsive, prompt and very professional. His advice was sound and very practical. He recommended some good preventative measures to slow erosion on our hillside and a simple 4' retaining wall in our front yard. We would definitely recommend him to anyone who needs soil analysis, retaining wall design and construction, and any type of geotechnical work.

Dave came out, was on time, did his work which included crawling under the house in the crawl space. He didn't lolly-gag around. Once he and his assistant were done, he left. We had our engineers report in 3-4 days later. It was complete professional, and met our needs for bidding the foundation replacement.
