Mr. Chea first provided an estimate and price for my yard. We set a verbal and a written agreement via email to perform service on 3/28/14. When I arrived home from work, my yard looked brand new.

At first, Chea's crew did an excellent job. I thought I was hiring them to maintain the lawn they
installed and do general landscaping like trim hedges when they started to go
wild, weed the flower beds in the middle of the lawn, y'know general gardening
work. But I found that I had to ask them to do anything outside of edging,
mowing and blowing. So I?d ask and they'd do it but usually they'd say they
cdn't do it that same day, but wd plan to do it the following visit, and they
usually would. But then they wd slack off a bit so I'd call or email Chea and
request that they maintain the hedges on a regular basis, without me having to
ask. And they'd go back to handling it. I don?t know if it was just a breakdown
in communication somewhere or what, but it was annoying to me to have to keep
asking. in addition, it seemed every 4 or 5 months the guys would break a
sprinkler head or two, and the only way I?d notice it is was when the brown spots
started to appear in dryer months or when I?m get my water bill showing a higher
than normal amount. It was ongoing.
Last year the crew butchered a mature rosemary bush that is located right in the middle of the front yard along the
sidewalk, at eye level for all passersby to see. I called and emailed Chea
about and sent along pictures and asked him to replace the bush. Somewhere
between 4-6 months later he finally got around to replacing it with a rosemary
plant that was 1/10 the size of what his crew butchered. Now I?m starting to
wonder why am I paying this guy...? That year I paid him slow (but I indeed
paid him) because I just didn?t feel like I was getting my money's worth
anymore. I even hired him to install some new shade-happy plants in the rear
yard, but cautioned him the plants shdnt be too reliant on water because I wanted to
cut back on the amount of watering. He installed about 10 new plants, mostly hydrangeas.
about a year and a half later, 3 of them have died.
The last straw came about 2 weeks ago. it had been a little over 2 weeks since
the crew had come out and the lawn was looking pretty awful, plus that brown
spot was beginning to appear again - same spot as last year and the year before
that... so I decided to mow it myself. OMG!! That beautiful lawn I had paid him $4800
to install 6 years ago had somehow metamorphosed into 80% crab grass..!! WT...?
yep... about 3-4 inches thick of crab grass... and that ever present brown spot
owed its existence to the fact that the grass had grown over 2 of the sprinkler
heads!! Now, isn?t that the kind of thing you'd notice if you'd been mowing the
same lawn for 6 years? In addition, 3 perimeter sprinkler heads were broken...
the past water bill I just got was approximately $60 higher than it was the
same time last year. Yep, time to part ways. And, BTW, never once did Chea's G. ever apply
weed killer or fertilizer to the lawn. When I asked him about it he said it would be extra...
Again, maybe it was a miscommunication somewhere but lawn care to me means lawn care. Weed,
feed, cut & trim. Crab Grass! After $4800 to install it, and $150/mo for 6
years to "maintain it" - I?m left with 3-4 inches of thick crab
grass. That?s the reason I roto-tilled the lawn in the first place back in 2006
and let it lie fallow for a whole winter. Now I am right back where I started 6 years ago. I am not
a happy camper.
I have learned however, next time - if there is one - i will put my expectations down on paper and everybody will sign off on it.

See above. I was pleased with the quality of the work and the price. Job was finished in 3 days. Chea's crew worked in the rain one day to finish the job by the weekend.

Chea Uch of Chea's Gardening was really good. He was very affordable and is very organized. He did it really fast and within two weeks. He was also very responsive and was ready to work everyday at 8:00. We have actually talked about using his gardening service on a weekly basis.

The entire project took five days, which was a reasonable timeframe for the amount of work done. I am very pleased with the outcomes -- the backyard is now functional with three dogs as well as visually pleasing. Chea worked with a drawing that we gave him and offered great suggestions. On the last day, the crew didn't clean as well as I would have liked, thus the "B" in professionalism. All of the guys are nice and work hard; arrived at almost exactly 8am each day and worked through to 5pm or later. I will definitely use Chea and his team again for future work.

Overall he was great to work with. He came out same day for an estimate, and set at time to perform the work 2 days later. He came out with 2 guys, and they spent about half a day fixing the drip system and doing the yard cleanup. The work they did was really fantastic, and they cleaned up so the place was spotless. They were done in a little over half a day. I would definitely recommend them and plan to use them again in the future for gardening work.

It was a great experience. They used my design which was not their usual way of doing things. The estimate was right on. They stayed in contact and were prompt and neat. They gave us some options to adjust before it was set. It was excellent.

We have a large piece of property with high weeds and Chea's quote was very competitive. He and his crew showed up on time, they worked hard and performed the job as requested and quoted. I will definitely use them again!

Chea was exceedingly prompt in his response to my email, and very professional in his demeanor. Despite the walk-around that he and I did together, there were two minor matters requiring further attention that came to my attention after he and his crew were gone. I've since emailed him and he's agreed to see to those issues on his next maintenance appointment. He strikes me as a man of integrity, and someone on whom I feel I can rely to come as agreed, regardless of whether I'm in town. UPDATE: AS PLANNED, CHEA AND HIS CREW SHOWED UP TODAY FOR THE FIRST MAINTENANCE APPOINTMENT, AND AS PROMISED, ADDRESSED THE TWO ISSUES REFERRED TOP IN MY EARLIER REPORT. I HAVE ADJUSTED THE QUALITY RATING ACCORDINGLY.

I gave Chen a detailed but not to scale map of what I wanted done with my backyard and front yard, and he made some excellent suggestions about materials and plants to use to keep the costs down. He installed planters and beds, installed an automatic watering system, and put in a small front lawn and some flagstones, while keeping some of my existing plants and trees. I'm also paying him for keeping the yard cleaned and the front lawn mowed twice a month. You definitely get what you pay for -- it's not perfect -- there are some minor drainage problems -- but for a complete overhaul on a budget I think he did an amazing job. And his maintenance service is also very reasonable.

The whole job went very well. I called on a Sunday, he came and gave me an estimate on Monday, and started work on Tuesday. Before he started work he had to revise the estimate from $975 to $1475 because he saw that we would need additional retaining walls below two of the raised beds so we'd be able to stand below and above the beds in order to work in them. Then his two workers went to work for nine hours each day for the next three days. He came by periodically to check on them and to pitch in to help them. His estimate included all materials, including the wood, the cement for the posts, and the steps from one level to the next. They finished after 5:00 on Thursday afternoon, but Chea came back Friday morning to sweep and hose down the areas that had gotten dirty. I was amazed he could come so quickly and get to work right away, considering how busy he must be with all the Angie's List recommendations. They all did a splendid job.

I specifically asked for two weeds to be removed that have grown into bush-like plants. He did not. He said, that one came from there and pointed to a bush on my neighbor's side of the fence, and the other one, similar story. They are an eyesore and for that amount of cash he should have done what I asked. He sent two people to work. I don't know if they were regular employees or not. There is a bush in the back that is round shaped and leaves were growing out. He did not fix it. He cut my bougainvilla bush by flattening it. I needed it shortened, but he did not do that very much. He cut the lawn and trimmed my hibiscus vine, but not the way it needed to be trimmed. He did not cut the large parts of it and I still get more growth on my staircase side than on the vine side.

Mr. Uch responded quickly to my email, and we talked by phone. We set up a date and time for an estimate. He was prompt, swift, and professional, giving me an estimate and asking a reasonable deposit to start work. He showed up at the time agreed upon to start work and was done very quickly, everything cleaned up beautifully. I particularly appreciate that I can communicate with him by both phone and email. Communications were easy and clear. The work was impeccable.

They were very punctual and responsive to my preferences when trimming shrubs. The work was well done by a crew of 3-4 workers over several hours. The fence repair only took a short time by one person, although the price for that was the same as for the trimming. Therefore, I felt that part of the job was overpriced for the actual work done. Other than that, I am satisfied with the work and cleanup/hauling done by Chea.

Cheas Gardening performed a small pathway conversion from dirt to paved brick. They were able to utilize unused existing bricks that were neatly placed in an appeasable pattern to convert the weed infested walkway into a naturally decorated usable piece of property. They trimmed and recommended a more beautiful growth pattern of my Japanese maples. This was all completed in one work day!
