CEDAR PROPERTIES

My first interaction with Cedar was an alarming email sent to me that Gmail flagged as dangerous. It had a file in it believed by google to be phishing for personal data, and I was warned to not open it. (I did open it by accident and since my laptop and phone have been having problems.) I reported this to Cedar and they denied any responsibility or action. I simply didn't want to trust them over Google, especially considering all the legal action I've been forced to take against the property owners and their agents. It was a sour note to start on.
Cedar then made a non authorized entry, based on a "Safety Inspection" ordinance from Berkeley (I live in Oakland,) during which the Principal Jonathan Weldon took many photos of every room with no permission. When he was confronted by my roommate he protested that it was not for "marketing," it was for "inventory." He asked if my roommate wanted to be in the photo, and if not to move out of his way. My roommate was working in his bedroom. There was no clear reason for this photography. It was an invasion of my privacy and when I complained Cedar protested they have every right to do what ever they see fit in my home.
I had broken windows, problems with the heater, flooding water in the basement, rodent issues, very dangerous electrical hazards, a water heater that failed inspections due potential risks of injury, lead paint disturbed, and moisture issues. Cedar denied every single item reported and since I contacted the Building Code Enforcement, and had the health department come out and say I had valid complaints - Cedar has refused to take my phone calls or emails regarding repairs. This makes their services a complete waste of money, and increases the liability of the owners of record significantly.
I would not recommend using this agency "whatsoever." They have plumbers and electricians wiling to ignore serious hazardous issues and apparently make "sworn" statements to protect Cedar Properties and the Owners they work for. I am currently interviewing lawyers to address these insane property managers and their abhorrent behaviors. Every single action they took had negative results. They claimed all kinds of untrue things about me, and will undoubtedly try and refute this review. I say wait to hear the court's decision.
