Their price was fair. They were really fabulous, I found them on Angie's List. I would use them again without a doubt.

Of the contractors I had come out to estimate Paul was the most thorough (he was the only one to look under the house to be sure of the level of the drain. He clearly explained what work would need to be done, what wouldn't be necessary, and how long it'd take. His crew were impressively fast at digging the trench (including avoiding damage to several irrigation lines) and installing the drain and clearing up afterwards, and the drain performed extremely well during our record-breaking winter rains. I'd definitely recommend Carty to anyone needing drainage work, and would use Paul again if I have any other drainage needs.

Absolutely fantastic, they were fast, efficient, and completely easy to deal with. As with many projects, problems would arise, and we would discuss all possible remedies and quickly and efficiently take care of it. The estimate was on point, and the cost was incredibly deserved for the job.

It went great!!! Paul was extremely professional and came out with his crew to do a complete under house inspection. He then created a written estimate that was thorough and complete and easy to understand. They corrected some of the drainage issues that have been with us since the house was built. They obtained all of the necessary building permits (they had to cut through the pavement and re-pour the sidewalk) and the work was done in a very timely and efficient manner. His work crew (headed by a guy named Edmund) worked quickly and effectively. I believe that the 'measure of a company' is not only how well they do when they do the work but how hey handle issues that may surface after the job is done. About a month after work was completed, we noticed that we had a wet area and it appeared that there was a broken sprinkler pipe. Due to the efficiency of the drainage system that they installed, we didn't notice it right away. I sent Paul an email note and he quickly sent his crew out and they fixed the broken sprinkler pipe. They were extremely apologetic for having broken the pipe but more importantly fixed it immediately without question. I highly recommend Paul and his company. First, he really knows his stuff. Our house will now withstand the next 'Noahs Arc flood'. Second, he has incredible integrity. He does exactly what he says he will do and even more. They accommodated several minor requests including taking some of the excavated dirt and fixing the erosion with it even though it wasn't specified in the bid. Third, they stand behind their work. I cite the sprinkler issue above. Minor, for sure, but the fact that they said 'Don't worry, we will take care of it' means a lot. Not a lot of companies have that sort of customer service and commitment. Anyway, I highly recommend Paul and his company for your toughest drainage issues.

Very professional.  Made sure I understood exactly what the problem was and how he was going to end the problem.  Job was done at the promised time and completed in a very timely manner.  Cleanup was thorough and workers very responsible and pleasant.  I highly recommend Paul Carty to get the job done right!  A bit pricey, but you get what you pay for.........

Paul recommended the under house french drain option over a much more expensive option that others had recommended where we would have had to dig a trench almost 12 ft deep in the back of the house and tear up the patio. He also connected all the downspouts to the drainage system that carries the water down to the street. Some other contractors suggested that we just let the water flow into the front yard, but Paul highlight that we would be trading one problem for another. The cost was slightly higher to ensure it was done properly. With the rains we have had so far this Fall, the system has worked flawlessly. His crew was professional and cleaned the basement area completely when the work was completed. The only downside was part of the front yard sprinkler system was damaged with all the dirt being hauled out from under the house, and we had to get someone else into fix that. I would highly recommend Paul and his crew.

The whole crew was fast, pleasant and professional.  They actually finished a week early and were happy to help out whenever anything came up that needed attention.  The french drain was dug by hand so there was no damage to landscaping or the house.  They worked really hard and fast, cleaned up after themselves and were always friendly.
We had leaking in the basement last winter (which was a dry one) and even with the huge rains here in Mill Valley this year the basement is totally dry and pleasant.
I never felt I was being taken advantage of even when unexpected problems arose or changes to the scope of work were discussed.  Paul is truly an expert at drainage and has a great crew.

I couldn't be more please with Paul and his crew.  They delivered exactly what was agreed upon, at the right price, we're professional and courteous when on site - and my water problems have been resolved.  I would recommend Carty Construction without hesitation.

Paul Carty and his crew were excellent. We got 5 bids for the project, and selected Paul Carty because of his attention to detail and his concern for helping us solve our flooding problems. They were prompt, smart, and efficient. They also were very respectful and courteous to our neighbors, who wanted to make sure their trees and property were not adversely affected.

Paul and his crew were extremely professional and really did outstanding quality work.  They took the time to design the right solution for our needs and explained what they were doing every step of the way.  The crew was punctual, worked weekends when needed, and was very pleasant to deal with.  I would definitely hire them again. Price was in the middle of the bids I got but I can't imagine the work being done any better.

Very good, very responsive. Helped us break the work into pieces so we can afford it all, helped us prioritize which pieces are most important. We will definitely keep using them. They have also advised on other work which is really helpful.

We had Paul Carty come out to evaluate the drainage at our house, since we had water damage on one the walls on our bottom floor. He ended up recommending a drainage/structural engineer to take a look at the house, since I had some structural concerns as well and I wasn't sure whether they were real (they weren't), and if so whether they were related to poor drainage and water accumulating at the foundation. The engineer ended up putting together a full drainage design plan for us, which I gave to Paul and to two other contractors for bids, since I wanted to triangulate on the cost estimates. Paul's bid came in the most reasonable. His crew was terrific and was done in five days. They were friendly, knowledgeable, and the end product looks great. At the end of every day, they cleaned up and packed away all their gear in a very organized fashion. They were even able to keep my plants, which they had to dig up and set aside during the project. Highly recommended.

Paul showed up on time gave reasonable evaluation and priced out and estimate within a day or two. I asked for slight modifications, adding some catch basins at the low points in the yard. My only issue was the timeliness of Paul's email replies often took a week. Once we nailed down the estimate and chose a date to start work, Paul's crew showed up early. They completed the job in a couple hours, and didn't leave any mess behind. We've had a couple of rainy days since the work was done and so far we haven't seen any pooling near the foundation.

placI had water coming in from the outside into my basement area during a heavy rain season.   Paul Carty came and gave an estimate  (it was pricey) on a french drain system which amounted to two levels of drain pipes (one to catch the water near the surface and one to catch water running 3' or more feet below (I'm on a hill.)  It took his crew three weeks to dig down. remove old drainage pipes and tiles and lay the pipes around the entire house, connecting one pipe already in place in the backyard and the drain pipes came out in the front of the house.  It was an elaborate system but I didn't want to do drainage work again
(I've lived in the house 30 years and had it done twice already).  From our initial conversation during the estimate Paul Carty explained what he would do and based on his experience and his references (three which I checked) I was convinced his company would do the job I wanted.  If you're looking for something less expensive you won't get the best.  His crew was hard working, showed up on time every morning, worked continuously and diligently and the foremen Ernie knew what he was doing
and spoke English.  One afternoon it started to rain hard.  Paul and his crew remained and improvised a way for the water to run away from the side of the house and basement. The pipes hadn't been been in yet at this point and it was basically a deep trench all around the house.  Paul and his crew wouldn't leave until he was sure that water wasn't going to enter my basement during the heavy rains that night.  I've had the drainage system and a sump pump operating for nearly 8 years.  I called Paul back for a minor item and he came back soon and took care of the problem.
I recommend Carty Construction based on my experience above.   Knowledgeable company,  timeliness, responsive, will follow-up and Paul is a personable guy.

I used them because it was referred by Angie's List.  We are happy with their work. They did a good job.  They work very hard.

Paul Carty came earlier than expected for the initial assessment.  He discussed his plan with me in detail and how it would help to drain off the rain water before it has a chance to pass under our house foundation and saturate the sub-floor. Once the contract was drawn up, a copy of the contract was emailed to me for review.  Paul answered any questions I had promptly via phone or email.  Paul Carty came to the house for the sign off on the contract before all work started. Once the project started, work continued efficiently and swiftly. It took only 3 days to complete since the company only works on one project at a time. At the finish of work each day, the workers made sure that the area under construction was safe to pass over for both my family and our animals. After the work was finished, the workers make sure to leave the property in its original state. Although their work hasn't been tested by heavy rains yet, I am impressed with their work so far and will use this company again if needed.

I did not see anything bad about them. The person who came was on time. He was easy to talk to and explained all the different things and possible options. He did the analysis of the job and made the proposal. But we eventually went with a different company as they offered a lower price.

Once they started the work, Paul & his team completed the work in about four days. Everyone was very professional & pleasant & they kept the area tidy. Our basement has stayed totally dry with every rain storm we've had since they installed the sump pump. Paul was the most expensive bid I received by about $1-3K but I chose him because he had a lot of drainage/water expertise. I would absolutely recommend him.

We thought we were ready to pass the final inspection for the seemingly-endless project: a 2-story addition that took over 3 years to complete. Unfortunately, the initial contractor, who'd by then abandoned the project, hadn't included drainage in his original plans, so we failed the inspection. The contractor we found to take over was wonderful, but when it came time to bid this last project, he came in at nearly $13,000! Another bid also came in at over $10K, so Paul Carty's was easily the lowest bid...and after having been burned by picking the lowest bidder for the main project, we were somewhat skeptical. Paul's reviews here on AngiesList were stellar, though, and all 3 of his references absolutely raved about him, so we gave it a go. And for once, something too good to be true...wasn't! Paul and his crew were fast & fastidious, on-time & on-budget. I take drainage very seriously: it's not sexy, but doing it wrong can be extremely costly. Thanks to Carty Construction, my family and I were completely at ease through this year's intense rainy season.

Excellent work. Reasonable estimate, clearly knew what he was doing, work complimented by city inspectors. Would recommend.

Other contractors often send out a chatty salesman to mainly pitch whatever their standard package is. Unlike them, Mr. Carty from the start was clearly a hands-on guy and he immediately got serious about figuring out where the sources of our particular flooding problem were. Even as he developed a plan to solve the problem, he considered all potential trouble spots. He and his crew worked efficiently, accommodated the tenants regarding the noise level, and cleaned everything up very nicely. So far, there has been no flooding from the rains in December, so it looks like his work was successful.
