I called Ben Jacobs as my hot water heater had stopped producing hot water, and the pilot light would not come on. He guessed over the phone that it was the thermal coupler, a very common problem in all water heaters, gave me a quote and we set up a time that afternoon. He arrived exactly on time, did an inspection to confirm his diagnosis, and then set to work. While working, he explained what he was doing at every step, and answered my other questions about hot water heater maintenance, and some other fun general theory discussion. He really knows a lot about hot water heaters!
Once done, I had him take a look at a leaky faucet, and he swapped out both washers in a matter of minutes. He also took the time to explain what he was doing, and how I could do this work myself next time I was faced with a leaky faucet.
Ben was professional, courteous and friendly.

Old dryer gave out, bought a new one that weekend, delivery was set for Monday. Dryer was delivered but they couldn't install it because they discovered that the shut off valve was leaking. They were willing to come back and finish the installation after the shut off valve was replaced but that would take arranging and planning and more days off. So I checked the listings, Ben was local, called him about 11 am. He was available to come by between 4 and 5
He showed up a little after 4, took a look, checked to see if he had the right part and gave me a quote. I accepted and he got to work. He probably spent more time helping me get the dryer and the washer back level (we had to move the washer so he could do the work) than he took to change the valve, hook up the dryer, and check everything for leaks.
This was much appreciated.
He then went around the house checking the rest of the gas appliances to make sure they were all working correctly and hadn't stopped working because of gas interruption or pressure loss.
He was very personable and professional and explained what he was doing and why if I asked.
I'd be happy to use him again.

I have several rental properties so he is constantly doing something for me. He is a perfectionist. He is very friendly and offers fair pricing. He is timely and responsive.

If the situation is an emergency, he will come right away, or will send someone to you. If not, he makes appointments and is punctual and communicative both before and after the appointment.
