1) Installation of ceiling fans - This took way longer then it should have. What should have been a few hours of work took over a month. We purchased the ceiling fans and left them in the house. He installed one in the wrong location and when it was finally installed in the correct location, we discovered it was out of balance. We had to take in a part and basically install it again.
2) Tiling laundry room - One requirement was that the tile was to be installed at the same level and the floor in the Great room. This requirement was forgotten. My husband also asked Mike to install a L-shaped metal transition between the tile and the wood floor in the great room. Mike installed the wrong one (it was the transition for the travertine and it ended up sticking out a 1/4" above the tile. It looked terrible! We ended up ripping it out and redoing the first row a tile.
2) Tiling of entry and hallway. The objective was to tile the entry and hallway with travertine. My husband was installing hardwood floor throughout the rest of the house so we thought having someone else do the entry and hallway would be a time saver. My husband made a point of mentioning the floor was uneven since he was dealing with a similar situation in the Great room. Saying the job was poorly done is an understatement. The tiles were not spaced evenly and when confronted with an uneven floor, the tiles were simply angled. Worst of all, within two days of the job completion the tiles started lifting. Within a week 14 tiles were loose. We ended up ripping out the entire hallway and hiring the tiler who did the bathrooms to redo it.
