They are very good. He is a general contractor and he does specialist things and he hires out sub contractors as well if he needs them. He is extremely meticulous, he makes sure to get it right, he works with the customer to make sure the design and work is what we want. I have seen him do things over again for people who seem to be more fickle. I tend to make up my mind and stick to it, so he hasn't done anything over for me. Working with some old houses in San Francisco which have no square corners and everything is out of level, it takes a master carpenter to make it look the way it did. I don't see any real faults in him. He can do anything and he also recognizes what he can't do. It took him about a week to do the bathroom. His price is competitive with what is around the area. He came early.

By far and away Joe is the best contractor I have ever worked with (This is the third remodel I have been involved with). He is extremely meticulous, precise and quite the craftsman. We started by demolishing the back two thirds of the house and digging a new foundation. Part of the major problem was to tie in the existing foundation, structure and roof with the new construction. At every juncture I, as the owner was advised by Joe as to what materials, supplies or decisions I would need to make right "down the road" so we could keep the project moving sine I expected it to last 1-2 years AND we were living there (so he had to work around us) and our three dogs didn't get displaced and accommodations were made for them to carry on with their daily routines. Once the foundation was laid, the basic structure went up quickly. We decided on finishes as we went through the project so that most steps proceeded seamlessly. As anyone knows, if details are left unanswered, then inevitably steps have to be retraced and resultant change orders are expensive. We essentially didn't have one change order because with Joe's help we anticipated everything. His subcontractors were all excellent and he has worked with them for many years. Some were a little expensive but well worth the quality in the end. Any lapses that the subs left was always covered by Joe who is multitalented . I had asked Joe whether I could supply the cabinets myself as i am an amateur cabinet maker. He knows my quality of work and we were able to work seamlessly together, especially in the kitchen and bathrooms. If anyone had the desire to do the cabinets or finishes themselves, Joe would vet you but work with you in getting your part of the job done. Those who want nothing to do with any construction, however can rest assured that Joe will start and finish the job himself and hire out the appropriate subs. Joe has many strong points in his skill set but amongst the best are 1. tile work, 2. structural, 3. finish carpentry. There really isn't any area of construction that he can't excel in. His subs were 1. electrician/plumber 2. roofer, 3. mechanical - heat, ventilation, 4. concrete. We made many custom improvements in our home and this would not have happened if it hadn't been fro Joe's skills. There are two curved (coved) ceilings, a fully insulated temp/humidity controlled wine cellar, home theater, victorian spiral staircase, arched doorways to most of the rooms in the house, Copper everywhere - pipes, hood, downspouts, gutters, roof caps, sinks, custom kitchen French country cabinets, different textures and colors in every room, lots of chandeliers, attic storage added as a bonus. There are more things, but these are the highlights.

Joe is good!
I found him thru my plumber/electrician and he's just the man I needed.
I'll use him again, and regularly as needed.
