Mr. Andert abandoned the remodeling projects at my mom's residence after she paid over $8000 down on the contracts. He took advantage of a senior citizen, pocketed her money, then walked away from the projects without even completing them and leaving beyond shoddy, poor quality work. Work began in December 2007 and he abandoned all the projects well before completion -- painting and window installation -- in March 2008, having dragged them out an excessive amount of time. Work was sporadic and inconsistent -- he'd show up, work for a day, then go weeks without returning. He has not returned multiple, repeated phone calls to both his cell and office phone number over the past few months. Because we are trusting people, we gave him the benefit of the doubt, speculating that perhaps he was sick, in jail, or maybe even died in an accident. Alas, we were again mistaken, as we received a signed return card for a certified letter we sent to his office. He has not responded to that letter. Beyond the abandonment of the project, Mr. Andert's work was incredibly shoddy; the contractors we have since contacted to complete and repair the damage he did to our house expressed amazement at, quote, "how it is even possible to mess it up that badly." A few examples: the front of our house has a patch-work of part primer, part top coat; the front window he installed does not close flush, with a nearly one-inch gap allowing a breeze in, and the lock he installed doesn't align; screws are installed at angles rather than flush on window hardware; one window hinge is missing the actual bolt; windows he installed leaked excessively; metal vents he installed under our window are falling out because they were not secured in any way. It will now cost several more thousand dollars not just to complete the projects he abandoned, but also to repair the work he did do. But forget the money. The worst aspect of what this man did is the grief and suffering he has caused my elderly mother. She hired this man to complete work that my father had started but wasn't able to complete before his death last year. This man caused my mom to cry again. Don't let this happen to you and AVOID this contractor at all costs.
