The work was okay but they didn't get the water pressure right on an elevated part of our yard.  We felt they were too expensive for what they did.

Initially, we got a very good bid for a retaining wall and fence on our hill.  The retaining wall holds back dirt at the top of the hill and the fence is on top.  I asked for several improvements to the design, like a liner and rock behind the wall which were readily agreed to at a fair additional price.  However, the design had to be tweaked as the work progressed because it became obvious that the height of the fence was not going to provide privacy as it was being built.  Several times I had to suggest ways to raise the fence and retaining wall to make it work.  My impression is that this contractor is good at building run or the mill fences, but he is not up to the challenges of an unusual situation, ie. a steep hill in this case.  He did not have a good initial design and was not able to come up with solutions on his own.

Worked in cramped area surrounded by concrete to cap old valve, add new and wire up. Able to do w/o having to break up concrete walk.
Had to dig out soil in box containing overlapping irrigation pipes to get at valves needing replacement.
Working in hot weather. We are very appreciative; there seem to be no more leaks of our irrigation system.

They are really excellent. They've been excellent. I like the attention to detail. They do thing that most other companies don't do like they pull weeds rather than just poison everything. They are always willing to do extra projects in addition to my regular service. They are very friendly and responsive. They do a great job.

Because we are new to the property, and the system had been shut down and was without any documentation, we had no idea which parts of our property were irrigated and which were not and which parts of the system were working or not. Rocky Soil and Joe Santangelo were recommended to me by Urban Farmers in Mill Valley. Joe came out the day after I called, and spent more than an hour evaluating the system and gave me an estimate of the time and costs of repair, rebuilding or replacement. He completed the job a week later in about 1/2 day, which was right on his estimate. He repaired or replaced parts of the system, rewired controllers, ran lines to areas that had not been receiving water and gave me helpful documentation of the watering design and system he had set up. His cost was fair and the work was well and quickly done.

They came out on time, gave a bid, the bid was accepted. Then they came out as scheduled, did the work is less time and for less money than they had estimated, and completed the work successfully.
