FANTASTIC!! Mick has been helping with our house since 2010. When we moved in, we had permitting issues with a gazebo and backyard stairs. He promptly took care of these issues. We had a massive kitchen leak which destroyed our hardwood floors and we had to replace our kitchen island. Mick to the rescue! He put us in touch with David who designed and procured the cabinet and countertop we wanted, and Mick put it all together. Simply gorgeous work! And he explains everything to you so you know what to expect, when to expect it, and he's so reasonably priced! We need him to repatch the drywall after our plumber cut open a giant hole in our dining room wall from another water intrusion issue, and since he is out here, we are having him replace our oversized and custom front door. There is nothing Mick cannot do. He also has an arsenal of amazing specialty contractors to do those things Mick does not do. He always comes along to make sure the work is done to his very exacting specification. We trust him with our home, and consider him a trust friend. Thank you Mick for always taking care of us!

I had a specific idea of what I wanted for my needed remodel . Since the shower had failed, I decided to redo and update the whole bathroom. Whereas other contractors said my plan could not be implemented, Mick figured out a way to accomplish it, and it turned out just beautiful. Mick does meticulous work and his communication during the project was unsurpassable. He chooses skilled subcontractors when needed and always keeps a close check on their work as well. I'll never call a different contractor for ANYTHING again.

Recently, MK Builders completed an extensive remodel of my house that involved a kitchen, bathroom, den and outdoor deck. I am extremely pleased with the project and highly recommend MK Builders to any interested party. It has been a distinct pleasure to work with the owner and general contractor, Mick. He is a good communicator and very well organized; valuable qualities in the execution of a remodeling project that involves a multitude of sub-contracting jobs (plumbing, drywall, insulation, tiling, painting). He and his staff performed all of the carpentry and electrical work. An especially invaluable skill with remodeling projects of older homes is the need to adjust or modify the construction to accommodate an unanticipated complication, which often does not reveal itself until after the demolition. MK Builders encountered several issues with the existing framing and foundation of our job that the contractor was able to successfully address through experience, skill and ingenuity. The quality of the work met or exceeded our expectations. Mick and his staff are extremely professional and courteous. It is also a “Mick thing” for his staff to thoroughly clean the site after every workday. Mick is the electrician. He corrected the wiring problem that the previous weekend warrior owner had made with three of our light switches. He installed lights in our crawl space, which has made such a difference. We had a number of unforeseen delays that were outside our control. The custom-made tile order was delayed by more than four weeks. The cabinet order was delayed. The house remodel triggered the replacement of the sewer lateral, which had to be done before the final inspection. The gas and electric company did power pole replacement on our street which resulted in no power for two days.

The only criticism I have is that from the start of the Job it was difficult to establish a work schedule/completion date. That aside, Mick's crew did great work! I've hired my share of contractors in the city. From my experience it's rare to get the quality you pay for. All aspects of the work performed turned out excellent. I would definitely hire MK Builders again.

Mick Velasquez was extremely responsive and supportive throughout a long and a bit stressful remodel.  My husband, our dog and cat all moved into the 500 square foot apartment in the lower part of the house, while the remodel made chaos out of the top level.  Mind you that this started three weeks after my knee was replaced in January.  When the bathroom and Kitchen were basically but not completely finished, at the end of May, my husband had his knee replaced. 

 Mick, his assistant Joel and all his sub contractors were amazingly supportive, flexible, courteous and communicative.  They were super clean while doing messy work.  The results were professional.  When mistakes were made, ownership was taken of those mistakes and the errors corrected.  Mick communicated with us and our designer on a daily basis, sending us summaries at the end of each day.  We always knew what to expect and when. 

Mick has an artistic sense as well as being a good craftsman.  And he thinks ahead and tries to avoid problems.  This was impressive.

He also kept us aware of the cost of everything and tried to keep those costs down, which we appreciated.  The attention to details, always, made a difference in the end result. And we now have a completely new kitchen , bath, living and dining area with a very open peaceful feel.  We love it!

Any permit process when dealing with a city is time consuming, and expensive. Mick took care of everything. He came to see what needed to be done, and from that point on, it was in his capable hands. He kept us informed at every single step and gave us projected dates for each subsequent step. We knew what was going to happen, and when. The work performed was professional. Thank you Mick!!!

We hired Mick (MK Builders) after interviewing over 8 contractors. We got pricing from 5 and he was in the middle on cost. I am so happy we chose right and went with MK Builders. Mick is is general contractor and also an electrician.
He text me every evening and told me what was happening the next day. If I was unhappy with anything he quickly fixed it. Mick is a total professional and a great guy. From start to finish it was 8 weeks. In our last house we did a smaller remodel and went almost 4 months. We passed all inspections first time, and  we were right on budget. We are thinking of doing our mater bath next and I wont even talk to another contractor, I'll go right to Mick.

Since we are seniors (in our 70's) and had never undertaken extensive remodeling before, we went into all this naively and with some
trepidation.  We weren't even sure what materials we wanted, let alone where to get them.  As soon as Mick realized this he helped
us get to the right people and good businesses that we could rely on going forward.   A lot of people were involved in this job, and I can
 honestly say that they did excellent work.  Mick is very personable and easy to work with.

From start to finish it was a pleasure working with Nick.  I received an estimate shortly after contacting him and the work began almost immediately.  He was there when he said he would be and the job was completed when he said it would be.  I highly recommend MK Builders.

Always on time, work area was clean when they left.  Excellent workmanship.

Replaced and retrimmed 15 windows on 25 year old home. Had rear and lightwell on three stories siding repaired and painted. Finished within budget and early. We will use Mick and crew on next project if possible

His professionalism, communication, punctuality, and quality of work were exemplary.  He also was flexible and fair about making changes as we went.  His bid was the lowest of the 3 builders we consulted for bids.

Smooth as silk. Mick and team were always right on time, and very fairly priced.
They cleaned up nicely at the end of each day they worked, and you could hardly even tell they had been there at all.

Had doors ordered specially one with privacy glass installed.  Once doors came in it took 2-1/2 days to remove and replace two doors.

Mick is very particular about his work, using only skilled subs, and paying attention to the most minor details.  When the marble slab we had ordered showed up with dents and scratches, he refused to accept the material.  Had he not been paying attention, he could've allowed the installers to install a substandard countertop in our showpiece kitchen, which would've been a disaster.  Additionally, he is very organized and keeps the job site extremely neat.  He completed the project in a timely manner, while paying attention to our budget constraints.  We are very pleased with the results.

As soon as we met Mick, we knew we could work with him.  We interviewed other contractors, but came back to Mick.  He is personable, reliable, organized, and he always kept us informed via email, phone or in person.  We tend to micromanage and he was very accommodating and tolerant of our involvement.  He treated us equally as far as decision making went.  There were a few change order issues that were worked out.  We've had to have the tile guy come back a few times to finish some details, but everything looks great and functions well.

If you are looking for a contractor with integrity, honesty and a most importantly attention to detail and a strong, professional work ethic, I would highly recommend you call Mick Velasquez for your remodel.  He is an excellent communicator and always kept us up to date on the progress of the project.  We will use him again for future projects -- no other contractors will be bid.

I've use Mick for several jobs.  Because he is so fast and experienced I never worry about being overcharged. He is not learning on the job and he's friendly and easy going.
