Maldonado Construction

Our project started wonderfully well. Abel Cabrera was responsive and helpful in getting us an estimate and scheduling the work, which was somewhat involved. The initial phases of work and all of the carpentry executed by Abel Maldonado (the founder) were done very nicely. Then we started to have some glitches - normal stuff. When the roughly $20,000 sliding glass door had been installed, we noticed that it was a full 12" shorter than we had agreed. Maldonado had placed the order incorrectly. A mistake. Things happen. Abel and the team offered to replace it and reinstall one that was the right size. That was great. After some discussion, however, we decided to keep the smaller door and Maldonado would complete some work in our kitchen as a make-good. Form that point on, things turned South. We would go weeks without hearing from them. I would text, call and email. No response. Suddenly, Abel Cabrera would respond with a promise to take action "tomorrow," or "by the end of the day." This NEVER happened. I would have to hound him for several more days until he would commit to get the crew to return and do more of the partially-finished work. We finally gave up after the latest round. We are hiring someone else.
