Kevin was my guy, excellent tradesmen. I worked for a general contractor (my dad) for around 12 years. I've dealt with a ton of subs in my day. Kevin is a younger dude, but he's very very good and was good to joke around with him. I wish some of the people I worked with would care half as much. The job went Extremely well, considering some of the nonsense (not from the plumber, just my house being dumb :) ). The issue was my house was built in 1976, so they didn't built it for a bath tub, they framed it out for a shower. He got there for the estimate about 930, called at 9am to let me know he was leaving the shop and on his way and be there in 30. He was. Took a while for the estimate, which is perfectly fine. Got his materials list and went to his van to price it out. Got back, job was about 833. My wife didn't like that price at all, but since I was/used to be in this business to me it was about what I was thinking (I guessed 500-1000, due to all the relocation and sub floor weirdness). I explained that to her and she calmed down :) One issue was the 1x6's running vertically were close together and there was a vent on the right side, so it wasn't designed for a wider tub type unit with a single handle valve. He pushed it over to the left as far as possible without cutting into the timber. In the end, the valve was about 1/2" to 3/4 inch off center from drain of tub when I shoved it into the corner. That was actually ok because I had to build out the wall with new 2x4 since the room was far from square or level (again, nonsense with my house lol). He was there until about 6p or so, with two trips out. First trip in the morning, then a second in the afternoon (access panel, had to find one). Considering the amount of work, it was done right, he cleaned up. We had to dry fit the tub a half dozen times (ish) to get things lined up. Anyone who's ever installed a freaking tub (correctly mind you, not just slamming it in there and nailing it up) will tell you it's like a dozen times to dry fit, square it up etc. We had to do that because of the cramped area for the cutout portion of sub floor to accommodate the drain assembly for the tub. Once we got that sorted out, the rest came together :) Listen to me and listen carefully, you CAN get this done for about 50% cheaper, but let me tell you something else. I've dealt with those guys, and it's rare to come across that will do it really well AND charge less. Kevins work was precise, and even at the end he re did the vent pipe and just repiped the drain as he had a few pieces together then said "Look, I'm just gonna rip this out and re do it so it's clean" which means, less pieces, cleaner looking and less leaks :). Bathroom remodels aren't something you'll do every year, or **** every 10 years. Get it done and get it done right or you're gonna have a bad time. -Nick
