David is very knowledgeable and did a good job. He gave me an estimate via e-mail when I e-mailed him a picture of the situation. He showed up on time, explained the job, and the complete price was the same as the estimate.

Tankless hot water heaters are incredibly complex appliances. Many plumbers won't even work on some of the older models, like the one we have in our home (a Takagi T-M1). I found this out after calling several repair companies, one of which referred me to David Whyte. He gave me a same-day appointment and showed up exactly at the scheduled time. David ran a number of diagnostic tests on the unit to figure out why it had stopped working. He cleaned and lubricated the fan assembly, loosened a lot of accumulated debris in the burner to improve combustion, and got the heater running. He observed that there was no water filter in the cold water supply line, and installed one. He also observed that we had the wrong type of connector between our gas supply line and the unit, which prevented it from operating at peak performance. David explained all of his work as he performed it. He could have tried to sell me a new unit to replace my 11-year old heater, but he did not. That was honest of him. I would recommend David for his knowledge of tankless hot water heaters, his professionalism and his excellent communication prior to the service call.

Some initial miscommunications on scheduling, but once there the crew did a great job. Dave is very knowledgable and was able to explain the process for detecting leaks. They were able to isolate the leak to within the house. They traced it to 2 toilets which were losing water and needed replacement of the flush mechanisms. They also checked the slab and other areas of the house and confirmed no sub-surface leaks. They also identified an underground pipe connection near the outside shutoff valves that were weak and tenuous from roots encroaching. While they didn't pressure me to replace, I had them do it anyway so it wouldn't cause future problems. Very happy with their work, would use again.

The sewer backed up for the second time in less than 1 year. We previously paid redi rooter 2500 to clear the line and replace the clean out 100 ft from the house. Dave arrived on time and inspected the problem and found the clean out was the wrong type only allowing access in one direction. Dave also found the line was partially collapsed 10 feet up from the clean out. He replaced 50 ft of line and replaced the clean out all on a hillside. The work was done on time. No problems since.

They guys who did the work were professional and kept going until dark trying to clear long neglected area drains that couldn't handle a huge downpour. They were personable, informative. I felt that they really wanted to do the job correctly. I spent more than I planned to, but then I had more problems than I expected. The owner, Dave Whyte, billed me fairly and spent good time with me on the phone explaining everything.

Our main sewer backed up for the second time this year (in 2 months). Instead of using a tech that uses a rooter and would not guarantee the work we called a real plumber. They worked over eight hours using the Hydro Jet and when trying to scope with the camera found massive amounts of sand and also having trouble with the camera that was not bending through the pipe. They came back the following day and when they dug 10', the dirt was piled in the street on a tarp with a pipe along the curb under the dirt for the curb water to escape through it. Safety was also a number one priority and did not leave the site until the shoring for the hole was secured and covered. Upon digging they exposed the 3 year old clean out, confirmed the problem the pipes were cracked with some of the largest root mass he has ever seen and that it was not to code and not properly installed. Whytes plumbing did an impressive job replacing the main pipes and installing a new clean out that is to code. They also poured root x an enzyme treatment in and around the new system and supported the clean out with sand and cement blocks (prevent shifting) which was not done by the previous company. David Whyte was on the job every day in the trenches with his workers making sure the job was done properly. All technical installation was preformed by him.

It went so great. This is such a relief. Our plumber recommended replacing the whole line, which would be at least $6500, so we saved A LOT of money. It was found that the roots were getting in where there was a "test 'Y'" so we may replace that part or just do yearly RootX applications and hope for the best.

I did have a few issues at first with the water, but, they covered it all under the warranty. It was little things that they had to fix. They responded to my need quickly and professionally. They were able to get out here within the week and fix the things that needed to be fixed. I am pleased and plan to use them again sometime in the future for another job. I do not feel comfortable disclosing a price at this time.

When Heber came out to the house, he was on time, incredibly friendly and very professional. He explained everything that he was doing and even gave me some unsolicited advice on how to save money in the future. I would highly recommend Whyte Plumbing to anybody, and I will call them the next time I need plumbing work done. I may also use them to install a tank less water heater system.
