"I would like to apologize for the unfortunate experience that it appears you had with a pest control company but Reliant Pest Control LLC has never been to or rendered service to your property."
Kini of Reliant arrived within the designated 2-hour window and promptly got to work. He examined the attic for potential entry points and sealed all. Kini also set traps. Kini was professional and patiently answered all of my questions. He presented me with a bill for the amount Colleen and I discussed.
Two weeks later I called Reliant to schedule a return visit for a trap check. The appointment was scheduled for a day or two later. Again, Kini arrived within the designated window.
The service cost $250 and included two return visits. I have not called for the second return visit as my problem seems to have been solved.
Yay Reliant!
Tim showed up on time, did a real neat job and even threw in the shed for me. Tony was a big help getting the paperwork expedited for the escrow. These guys were great! I highly recommend them and will use them again on my next house.
I had an appointment between 11 and 1 today for a guy to come named Giovanni. I went to unlock my gate at 10 minutes before 11 to allow access to my property as I have two very large dogs that I had taken into the house. But I found a note in the gate saying to "Please reschedule." What? So I called the office to complain and they arranged for a 2nd guy to come out (Tom) in a half hour. Right after that call, my phone rings and a guy is at my gate named "Roy" who sounds and behaves insistently. A bit rude, actually. I confirmed the name Roy and asked about Giovanni - he said, "Who's that?" He said he did not know a Giovanni. Just to be clear, I am not elderly, not hard of hearing, not shy and am careful about personal safety. We went back and forth about the name, who he was, etc. Later he changed his story and said Giovanni was him and to let him in. At that point, I said that I would not. He left in a huff. I also looked outside my window and the guy was in an unmarked black truck with equipment in the back. I called the office again and said I'm really having trouble with this appointment and told them what happened. Gary, the owner, politely listened to everything and said that was odd and no one works for him named "Roy." Ok, so at that point I'm creeped out and my neighbor comes over while I wait for Tom to arrive. My neighbor also said that someone had just knocked on her door rather aggressively...loud banging a couple of times. She was not expecting anyone so she did not answer the door. Coincidence? I'll let you decide but I called the sheriff. I don't mess with this stuff. Houses get cased and robbed all the time in this city by workers or friends of workers.
So Tom arrived, accurately identified himself, his truck was clearly marked on both sides, and I told him what happened - about both me and the neighbor. He was nice, I showed him where I had found ants outside, and he sprayed. I asked him questions and he said all their trucks are marked, he was not familiar with the truck I saw leave here, that Giovanni drove a different truck than the one I described, and that this behavior does not sound like Giovanni. About an hour later, I called Gary-the-owner back to confirm that Tom did the work and that they would bill me, etc. When I mentioned the Giovanni incident again and that I had called the sheriff because it was scary and people's houses get robbed this way, how rude the guy was, etc....Gary got snappy and said he did not know a "Roy", that it was Giovanni who was here, that he was insured for these things, that he has never had this happen before, that Giovanni drove an unmarked black truck and that the truck signs were on order. Maybe the owner is covering his behind? Maybe they think I'm fibbing or nuts? Maybe it was all a big comedy of errors? Who knows. Sometimes weird things happen. Contractors have to watch their employees like a hawk which can't be fun. But I did not appreciate Gary's tone nor the Giovanni experience. Tom was fine, the office did promptly send someone else to my house and I would work with him in the future. I just want my ants gone. To be fair, I will update this as I see progress with my ant extermination. I think a few more treatments will be needed. They can send Tom back here again but not the other guy.
7/21/11 UPDATE: Ok, no more weird events and my ants in the house have gone away. On the original spray, a spot was missed outside so I called and they promptly sent Tom out to touch up at no charge. Gary is still grouchy on the phone and I suggest that he have the other person answer all phone calls because she is really nice. I would use Reliant again for my ant problem and I have adjusted my ratings accordingly.
9/1/11 UPDATE: The ants are back. So I called a week ago to schedule a monthly service. They said Tom would be here today between 8 and 12. After waiting 4.25 hours today and fearing a no-show, I called their office. They called Tom. They called me back. Now I'm told Tom will be here by 2:30 because "he is far away." I told them that a 61/2 hour wait is not going to work for me and I have many other things to do today. They said I can reschedule. As I am up to my eyeballs in ants right now and already had to wait a week to get today's appt, rescheduling does not sound like a good idea either. So here I sit until 2:30. The female on the phone was nice and I'm sure Tom will be nice when he gets here, but waiting 6.5 hours for an ant spray is ridiculous. I said above that I would use Reliant again but not so sure now. They are inconsistent at best.
