he wouldn't come the first day because he couldn't get a second man. then came the next day without a second man anyway. said he was buying us a more affordable water heater that was not double walled because it was indoors. said he got us the 6 year water heater because it was more affordable. then he hit me with a $1,700 bill. he did not provide me any proof of the cost of the water heater but said it was about $800. that means he charged me about $200 per hour of labor. I told him that he was recommended to me and that that person could not afford anyone who charged $200 per hour so it didn't make sense. he said that was the replacing the water heater price. I have never paid that much for a new water heater installation before.
Update: he came back and replaced a water pressure valve for us for free which we really appreciated.

I always try to provide accurate estimates prior to beginning work so we can agree on the price and make adjustments to the type of materials we're planning to use. In this case, it sounds like we had a miscommunication about the water heater and for that I'm extremely sorry! I originally applied a sealant to stop a leak that presented itself on a galvanized pipe. Longo Plumbing was supposed to cap the pipe properly, before the leak and at the end, which would stop any water pressure in the pipe and prevent a future leak. I assumed, as stated on paper by the service invoice; that the work had been completed to my satisfaction given that the leak had stopped. However, I discovered that the leak had returned due to the sealant I had utilized as a temporary fix had worn off, proving that the service I paid for was never executed in full. I've recently reached out to Pieto Longo numerous times in an attempt to have the service I paid for fixed. I was able to get a hold of him twice to which he assured me he would take a look at the leak and correct it. Ever since that agreement, he has been avoiding my calls and ignoring me. Needless to say, his lack of professionalism and service guarantee has been more than aggravating and I would not recommend his services to anyone as it stands today.

Your experience is unusual and I can't fully explain it, but we dropped the ball and I hope you'll forgive me. I never intentionally ignore customers and stand by my work. Whenever there's an issue with work I've done I return and fix it- yours should have been no different. I can only hope the communication trouble was related to the phone issues we have had in the past. My son-in-law has fixed those problems since then and I'm now 100% available with no more lost calls! I imagine you've gotten the leak properly fixed by now, but if it's still giving you trouble please let me know- I'll make sure it's taken care of once and for all!"
