Denny arrived exactly on time, evaluated what needed to be done, went back to his shop for parts and returned within an hour. It took him about an hour to install the correct parts, during which he told me a lot about the manufacturer, how the movement worked, what its qualities were, etc. It was very interesting. Before he left I gave him an antique wall clock to take back to his shop and fix. He also took out the movement for a third clock I own to take back to his shop. I'm not worried about what it will cost to fix these clocks. He is very, very honest. His knowledge and work is A+ in quality. His prices are low, and I trust him completely
Description of Work: I purchased a beautiful old Grandfather clock at the Salvation Army. I was warned that the clock didn't work and was missing parts. Examples: Weight chain, gizmo that attaches the pendulum to the movement, the key that opened the glass door, etc.. BTW: Without the key it was impossible to open the glass doors in order to wind the clock or set the time. To make a new key would have cost a fortune at a key shop. I had used Denny before and only purchased the clock because I knew that Denny could fix the clock at the right price, no matter what was wrong with it. I took a picture of the clock with my phone and went to Denny's store. He glanced at the picture and instantly knew the brand, what kind of movement the clock had, when it was made, what key I needed, etc. He gave me the key and set an appointment to meet me at my house. He arrived exactly on time, determined what parts were needed. ( A service call costs $95 which is deducted from the repair -- I think. Ask him to be sure). One of the many advantages of using Denny is He has been a clock repairman for 30 years and has an incredible collection of new and used parts at his store, plus 30 years of knowledge about clocks. He offered to use previously used parts for the non-critical areas of the repair. This saved me a lot of money. He recognized that the weights were from some other clock and were too light. We weighed them and determined he was right. He traded me a proper set of used weights for the old weights, and gave me credit for the old weights, so the weights he installed were very inexpensive. New weights would have cost a lot. He replaced the defective parts and the clock, started it up and it now keeps perfect time. BTW: It's worth a trip to his shop where the walls are covered with old, beautiful clocks, some of which are for sale. His knowledge of clocks and how to fix them is encyclopedic. His prices are low. He is a gem.
