Strongly dislike their customer service. Needed a tag re-attached to their meter that would but a few moments to re-attach but Sunrun wanted to charge to have someone sent out to re-attach.

SunRun is a very professional company. From the onset, Brandon came to our house to discuss the install. We chose a PPA (lease) rather than purchase the solar panels. He showed us how much it would cost us per month and the savings we would soon see as we begin to generate our own power. They came at the appointed time and installed the panels in one day. No mess, nothing to clean up. The workers were courteous and professional. The city inspector c ame the following day and approved the installation. During this entire process SunRun kept us abreast via email. We are now waiting for SCE to approve and attach us to the grid. From the initial sit down, to obtaining the permits, to the install and inspection, it took only 3 weeks. We already have recommended SunRun to our neighbors who are going solar.

Installed as designed and it works. I did not answer the questions related to price or cost, as REC was selected by the solar company guaranteeing the contract.  Now that I have had such an exceptionally good experience with this company, I could easily recommend it to anyone and feel secure that they were getting the best service possible.  Again, I cannot comment on pricing as that was not part of the overall experience.   REC designed the layout of the panels, ran wiring and conduit, removed and replaced concrete barrel tiles, installed roof racks and the panels.  Conduit was run through the attic into the inverter and new meter.
REC is also the manufacturer of the panels used on this project and the panels were made in Norway.  REC also manufactures at two sites in the U.S.
The amount of safety gear and time to set up safety materials each day was very carefully done and never changed.  To my surprise, an REC safety engineer arrived on the third day to inspect how the installers were following the company's safety rules.   The surprise part was that he drove from San Luis Opispo and I am located about as far east as you can get in Los Angeles County.
Everything the installers did was with attention to detail.  They did not waste time looking for parts or equipment, as their truck was fully lined with shelves and everything was put back exactly where it belonged for the next time.  The work site was kept clean and you would not know they had been there after they left each day.
Good quality work, nice people, completed on time and passed inspection.

Their product presentation was efficient and informative. It was a comfortable discussion of the savings solar power could provide and not a high pressure sales pitch. They clearly outlined the benefits and the potential savings. Once we made the decision to go with them the project team took over handling the design and permitting process with periodic updates during key sign-offs. On installation day they scheduled a crew from the Ventura area so they could keep the agreed upon installation timeline. A second crew was added to assist with the installation. Those two crews worked efficiently to complete the project and were receptive to some cosmetic design changes and electric panel placement making a superb finished setup.

They seem to know their business. We wanted as much to be done in the United States as possible because we don't support China. We went with them, and we had checked them out. We get them to check the system next week, and then they will turn it on. We would recommend them.

Initially, we got a sarcastic hassle from the SunRun Home corp when scheduling the installation but working with REC Solar directly was fairly smooth. Scott, Anthony and Daniel arranged to mount the 16 panels and the meter. Scott is very knowledgeable and professional about the installation. We have a slightly different configuration of the panels in that they were not laid all one roof plane.  The company engineers helped us use a west facing and south facing roof. They cleaned up every day.Scott carefully explained to use the sequence of events to get connected to the grid after we receive the approval from Edison. The SunRun Corp. has a link to monitor the system on our computer. REC Solar, North Hollywood, also installs for Costco stores but I read user reviews and found REC Solar that way. Their Solarlicense was not clearly stated for California but through the parent corporation.I was willing to have a sign on my property to indicate which company had done the work. So far, we are very satisfied.

Great company, great service.  We're still waiting on DWP to get out for the final inspection, but hopefully it will be soon. Our experience with REC Solar has been 98% great.  Only problems we had was some communication issues that created some scheduling mishaps, but nothing major.  The other issue we had was after final installation, they installed some rather conspicuous cabling along an exterior wall rather than through a crawl space.  They came back and fixed that.  They even matched the house paint color after patching the original mounting holes on the wall.  The people have been great to deal with. Highly recommended!

On August 23rd, I contacted REC solar based on good Angie?s List reviews.    I had recently backed out of a solar lease with a different company.   I initially spoke with Audrey Cordell, who was very helpful and informative.  She explained how the California rebates worked, and said ?not to pressure you, but REC is guaranteeing Step 6 rebates through the end of August?, and put me in touch with Rick Joseph.   I confirmed with Audrey, ?So If I sign with Rick on Friday, you will guarantee the higher rebate?? and she said ?Yes?.     I knew I wanted to go solar for sure, and the rebate difference was over $1000, so the pressure was on to decide on a company!

I chatted with Rick for a bit and gave him my 12 month electricity usage history.    He quickly convinced me that I?d be better off with a much larger system than the previous lease company had suggested.     We began going back and forth by email.   Rick was super-responsive, quickly answering emails with detailed responses at a variety of hours.    Once we settled on a size ? a 22 panel, 5.3kw  system, Rick tried very hard to sell me on a pre-paid 20 year pre-paid lease through SunRun.   This was extremely tempting; leagues better than the previous lease I came close to going with.    I just wasn?t comfortable with not owning the panels at the end, so after much debate, I opted for an outright purchase.

Friday came, I signed the contracts, gave Rick my deposit, and the project was off and running!    I was handed off to Kimberly Lewis, my project manager who would guide me through the rest of the process.   She set up an appointment for a site survey.   A couple weeks later, two gentlemen by the names of Holland and Joe came by to look at my roof and electrical system.   Very nice guys; they clearly had a lot of experience and knew what to look for.    Holland took measurements and many pictures so engineering could come up with a plan.    It took engineering around 3 weeks to deliver a plan.    Once that was done, Kimberly began working with my HOA.   Kimberly did most of the leg-work, and kept in contact with them until our project was approved.

During this period I also received confirmation of my SCE Edison rebate ? at step 7.   This is where REC demonstrated some truly impressive integrity.   I think somewhere in the lease vs. buy debate, I lost sight of the rebate guarantee that Audrey had promised.   It wasn?t anywhere in the contract that I signed, and in fact, all of the price estimates I agreed to were at step 7.    After informing Kimberly what Audrey had promised, REC took the high road and agreed to pay the difference ? nearly $2,000 less, without a fight!

Once the project was approved, the install happened within a week.   I didn?t catch the installers? names, but they were all pleasant, and got the work done in 3 days (Joe came back to help on Day 3).   They originally had planned to use my full, existing panel by combining circuits to make room, but the electrician argued that a sub-panel would be the right way to go.  REC installed the sub-panel and moved some of my circuits to it without altering the contract price.   Day 4 was the inspection and we passed.   Their work is done and it all looks great!   Now I wait for my utility to give me permission to operate.   I?m sure SoCal Edison is in no hurry for me to stop paying them, so they?ll drag it out as long as possible.

Another thing I was impressed with ? I referred a friend.   REC gave me a $400 Visa gift card within a short period of him signing the contract.   I was very surprised how fast they turned around the referral credit.     From start to finish, I felt very well taken care of by the folks at REC.    This was a big purchase and I truly feel I made the right choice in choosing them.    Highly recommended!

It went very well, as described above.  The only difficultiy I had was the insistance on a binding arbirtation clause in the contract.

I did extensive online research on solar energy and solar panels prior to interviewing any company. From the information I gathered, I had an extensive list of questions prepared to ask of the sales representatives - including technical specifications, warranties, future service, etc. I interviewed 3 companies prior to REC Solar. Two of the companies were relative newbies to this business, so despite their overall good prices, I did not feel comfortable that they were committed to solar longterm, as solar panels last several decades. One company had good products, but only had their own proprietary panels so there was no choice. Rick Joseph from REC was by far the most knowledgeable of the sales people I have met and had a company that has been around a while to know what they are doing and how to service future problems. The quote was straightforward - not the lowest but definitely not the highest. We decided on a combination of experience, knowledge, and price. As we were remodeling, we did not have the panels installed right away. In fact, it was beneficial as REC was able to do some electrical work while the roof was opened up so that all the wires could be hidden. The installation occurred about 6-8 months after our initial encounter with Rick Joseph. During that time, we decided to downsize the solar project to save some money. No problem from REC. They gave us a few more new quotes, including less expensive panels, and as solar panel prices were dropping, we achieved even more savings. REC took care of state rebate and permits with city. Day of installation came without any delay. Crew was very professional. Come and gone in 2 days. Rick sent us follow-up e-mails to make sure everything was OK. Overall very satisfied.

This was just a very easy, surprisingly smooth process. REC was quite professional and did exactly what they said they would do, including navigating the whole permit process and facilitating the DWP rebate. In addition, they worked with my roofer to coordinate their installation around my roof install, which made the solar install particularly clean. My roofer had only good things to say about working with REC. They were clean, prompt and the final product looks great and works well too...meter runs backwards when I'm not running all the lights and the big screen TV. I would imagine that there are other, cheaper contractors doing this work, but it's clear to me that this is not a project that you'd want to entrust to a company that hasn't got all their bona fides and time in the field.

My husband, Wayne compared REC Solar with 3 other companies. He invited each company to meet with us at our home. After speaking with each of their Reps, the both of us sat down and compared their offers, did extensive research on the internet, spoke to past clients, spoke again with the Reps with more questions and finally decided the best company to go with was REC Solar. We have never regretted our decision. Everything that was promised us was fulfilled. Solar panels is the way to go; our electrical bill for the last few months averages about $1.55; AMAZING - We should've done this a long time ago. We refer REC Solar to everyone we know ---even after they were paid we still get follow-up calls months later. :-)
