The chair when I saw it was acceptable and I expressed gratitude for Avi's work. However, when I got home I realized that the weaving pattern is not the same as the original. It is missing a 3-inch line in the center that connect the four quarters. Rather the quarters join at a point. My best advice would be to go where my mother went and paid $150, though there was no wood repair required though oiling and finishing were offered, at A Wicker Workshop. For wicker work, go there.
My husband and I brought a small side table as a sample of the color stain we wanted for the bench. He asked us not to leave the side table with him for fear of it being damaged in his workspace. We discussed the color and agreed upon a time frame, which was very reasonable for the work requested.
Avi called when the bench was ready to be picked up and we were excited to see the final product. When we arrived, Avi brought out the bench, and we were not all that happy with what we saw. In his effort to retain the look of the grain in the wood, he had made the color rather light, compared to the color we had tried to convey.
We told him we were rather disappointed, and without hesitation, he told us to leave the bench, and without any extra cost to us, he would refinish the wood in the darker color we had requested.
He was a man of honor, and true to his word we picked up the bench a short time later, happy to see the work done beautifully and exactly to our liking.
We would definitely use Avi for any future furniture jobs we might have. He is a man to be trusted and is totally dedicated to serving his customers and making them happy.
The communication just wasn?t there, so I requested a refund.
They were both scratched and worn when I sent them to be refinished. I asked him to sand and stain them back to their rich walnut. He has no concept of fine mid-century furniture. They are now an orange-blond. I am sick. As far as I am concerned they are ruined. I hope I can go back to the vendor where I bought my pieces. I will have to pay again to to have them redone as they should be.Edit: He swindled me out of a lot of money.
I have only myself to blame for hiring him in the first place. I understand that you have no personal knowledge about your providers of your Big Deals,or whatever you call them, and rely on reviews from others. You should take a look at his reviews on other web sites! As a result of this very costly and very unsatisfactory experience I have had with Angie's List, this will have been my first and last of my dealings with your website.
"With all due respect I read your complain again and again, I could not see any sense to making you dissatisfied or upset. 1. I told you from the beginning: there is no stain under the lacquer and i will sand the too pieces tack of the scratches and re lacquer them, i did so. 2. What is that mean"orange-blonde" with all do my respect to you, i never heard that term or a color named such as this. in our industry we pro form work only by samples, your end table are natural walnut coded with clear lacquer, and that was my ultimate sample. 3. "He has no concept of find mid-century furniture" with all respect what mack you an expert in order to criticize my ability in such way? you don't know nothing about me or my profession, it is looks to me like you willing to pour any kind of garbage on me in order to get some money back. it looks to me like you slandering on me and questioning my personal and professional dignity, so in easy way. I don't think that i aloud you to do so. your complain looks to me as a passel of bored game you setting up to extortion me and the system to your benefits. way you threatening Angie's list to stop working with them, they are very good company, and work connection provider. 4. as a conclusion i wold like to offer you to redo the job, and work under your supervision to stain and correct the color of the end table, to your satisfactory, and this will cost more then you asking. 5. I hope you be able to challenge me to give you my best."
