I called Circulating Air to fix a leak coming from the furnace of my heating and A/C system. The system is very old and was likely installed when the home was built in the late 1970's. The first available appointment was in two days, so I shut off my A/C system to prevent further water damage to my home. The technician showed up as scheduled and attempted to fix the leak. In hindsight, he tried to make the repairs without ever seeing where the leak was coming from. No one from Circulating Air had called and asked me to turn on the unit in advance so that the source of the leak could be identified. The technician thought a clogged drainage pipe was the source of the problem and cleaned it out. He wanted to check something called the pan, but he was having trouble getting a panel off to look at it. Using a mirror, he said the pan looked okay for the portion that he could see, but he could not be sure about the rest of it. He then proceeded to do regular maintenance and left when he was finished. Unfortunately, the unit began leaking as soon as the unit got cranked up. It was Friday evening at that point and nobody was available to speak with at Circulating Air, so I had to wait for Monday morning. After being told that the leak had not been fixed, the service department did not offer to give me my money back or credit me against a new system or future service. They did send someone else to look at the unit. Upon seeing where the leak was coming from, he told me that I would need to replace the unit. I would not hire this company again. Either the technician or someone in the service department should have asked me to turn on the unit so that the technician could see the source of the leak. Spending time trying to blindly fix a leak on an older unit without knowing the source does not seem like a wise game plan. Needless to say, I am not purchasing my new heating and A/C system through Circulating Air, nor will I be using this company for ongoing annual maintenance of my new unit.
"Hi (member name removed) - I apologize if this response appears to be "too little, too late" but I do feel a response is warranted as we are just finding out about this experience. Our service technicians do not get paid on commission so their main goal is not to immediately sell you a new unit, but to try to fix the problem. Sometimes depending on the age of the unit, a call-back may need to take place as it did in your situation. We offer 24-hour emergency service, so a technician would have been available. However, being that is was the weekend, emergency rates would apply. We did give you a proposal the following week, for a completely new system. Upon accepting the proposal we would have issued you a full credit for the repair costs against the quoted contract amount. I apologize if this was not made clear to you at the time you were given the proposal. I know we cannot undo what has already been done, but please know that we would have made every attempt to address your concerns and leave you feeling satisfied with our work. Circulating Air, Inc. has been in business nearly 50 years and know that we have our satisfied customers to thank for this accomplishment!"
