A-1 HOME IMPROVEMENT CTR

I was referred to A-1 Home Improvement by another Angie's List provider, but checked references and compared costs with other providers before moving forward.  A-1's customer service was excellent. Rick kindly explained  the options for the screen door and the pet opening and how much each would cost.  We originally wanted to just repair our screen, but their rate was reasonable so we decided to replace our old junky screen door and treat our dogs to a pet door, too. 
I spoke with Rick on Monday and John came out on Tuesday precisely at 8am, as discussed, to measure the door.  He was friendly, informative and patient with our chihuahuas even!    We decided on the best size for the dog flap - custom even! - and we were good to go. John returned two days later on Thursday, as promised, right on time and installed the screen door.  It worked perfectly and our dogs are using it already!

Needed a quick replacement for a badly deteriorated double-hung window in a sixty-year-old house. John came out, assessed the situation quickly, and quoted me a price much less than I anticipated. Work was done when he promised. and for the price promiced.. I was so pleased, I subsequently hired John to fix another project for me, which was done just as well

John came out and brought a brochure of shower doors for me to pick from. He did an excellent job of installation. I've used John 5 times now and every time he is always prompt. No two hour window like most companies do. Always a definite time, and he is always on time. He is very professional, easy to talk to, and is very respectful and careful with your home. Always does excellent work.

These guys work out of a small shop just off Laurel Canyon, on Victory. They have lots of choices of windows and doors, and parts and repair.
We bought a and quot;newand quot; 1950 house in March 2011, and the original sliding glass door didn't lock, so the house had been the location of Twitter parties while it was vacant. We also needed a sliding screen for that door.
They came out and measured, and studied the problem. Two days later, they came back, repaired the lock and installed the sliding screen, and adjusted and cleaned everything, even removing the glass door to fix the wheels underneath (they were grinding).
The door and screen door have worked fine since. A few weeks ago, the lock stopped working, and they guy came by and tightened the screws (that was all it needed), showed us how to do it if it happened again, and didn't even charge us for the service call. It wasn't anything they did, and the screen was just right, and everything is great.
Good people, dependable, and professional. And they know their stuff. (I asked his about some odd wire cables in the other windows, and he knew exactly what I was talking about. Unfortunately, the company that made those no longer exists, and parts aren't available, but at least we know the situation.

They actually came up with a really good idea for my screens where other companies would have probably said NO. They are very courteous and come when they say they will. They're very careful when they come and respectful of your property. John is the only person there I've worked with.
