CALIFORNIA TEST ONLY CTR

I have been to this business twice.  They offer to match competitor coupons, but when you ask them to do that you are given the run around.  This happened on both occasions.  On both occassions, they ultimately did honor the coupon after arguing with them. 

On the second visit to this business (with a different car) they failed the vehicle.  That in itself is obviously not a good basis for a negative review, BUT READ ON!!  We drove 2 miles home and didn't drive the car again until we drove it to another smog shop, also located very close to our home.  The second shop passed the vehicle with no problem.  No repairs or modifications were made to the car prior to the second shop testing the vehicle.  The car was warmed up prior to both inspections.  .  

There are several monitors that are tested as part of the smog test.  Not all of them are required to pass in order for the car to pass, yet California Test Only failed the car based on the monitors, NOT the emissions.  Their report states:  "This vehicle failed the MIL/Check Engine Light Test due to failure to successfully complete all OBD self tests."  I asked the second smog shop specifically about the monitors.  They tested the monitors before performing a complete smog test and reported that the proper number of monitors WERE functioning.  In both cases the car was warmed up prior to performing the test. 

My husband is a Honda Certified Master Tech. That is the highest level of training you can attain from the Honda factory.   He observed the technician performing the test. The technician did NOT use a timing light on the car, which is a required part of the test, nor was he able to locate the DLL connector on our vehicle.  

In addition, the people at the front desk (a different employee on each visit) were extremely rude.  Customer service is non-existent.  There is no, "May I help who's next" or "Thank you" at the conclusion of the transaction.   A woman paying ahead of me decided against having the shop transfer ownership of her car for her when she found out the shop charges a $45 "convenience fee" for this service.  I heard the person behind the counter smugly state, "We'll be open until 7 so WHEN you go to DMV and see the lines and decide to come back here, we'll be here." 

Save your money and drive on down the road to Smog  N Tag like I did! They can also process your dmv transfer or renewal, and the cost for processing your renewal is $10 less!  You'll be glad you did!
