Gemological Institute of America (GIA) Graduate Gemologist and third generation jeweler Michael Cortez founded Gemological Services of Southern California in 2000 to offer consultations for fine jewelry establishments and individuals throughout California. Within a few years the company expanded to form World Gemological Services to provide services to the clients around the world. Accuracy, confidentiality, and excellent customer services continue to define our mission. We are a group of gemological professionals using leading edge equipment and up-to-date evaluation techniques and we are proud to be able to offer clients our expertise, experience, and ever-expanding knowledge base of modern diamond and gemstone identification and grading technologies and techniques. All of our appraisers are graduates of the Gemological Institute of America. The GIA is respected worldwide as the leading authority of diamond and gem stone identification and grading technology. The GIA is also generally thought of as the strictest grading authority in the world. All of our gemologists were trained by the GIA and, as a result, grade to strict GIA standards.
