They did remove the spiral, and I told them I wanted a "real" staircase built to follow the wall. Instead, they built two landings, with three turns in the staircase. My bedroom is in the basement, and it juts out into the room. The rise of the stairs is different heights between two of the landings. One is 9", one is 7", and one is 8". They said they did this because the state required it. We also wanted oak trim on the outside of each step. The mitered corners look terrible. They don't meet, and the spindles are loose. The whole staircase is just awful. Not only that, I had to go to their office to get a receipt after asking for 3 weeks with no result. They told me they didn't have a printer. I had to wait for him to write out a receipt and send it to me by email. I could go on and on.

This was our first time working with a contractor and John and Lorri were great. They knew exactly what it would take to get the job done and gave us a competitive bid. They are honest, friendly, on time and, best of all, they do excellent work. Their team of skilled sub-contractors is fantastic. I can't say enough about the beautiful tile and stone work done by their sub-contractor Ciro. John and Lorri are excellent at managing the project and we received constant updates on the job. Any minor issues were resolved quickly and to our complete satisfaction. I highly recommend JMA Construction and I will definitely use them again.

JMA is very professional and did excellent work. They stayed on top of their teams - and on top of us when they needed something - so that the work was done in a timely manner. The communication and follow up is outstanding. Lorri stays very involved to make sure projects run smoothly and John's work is of the highest quality. They were excellent to work with. I can't recommend them highly enough.

Every step of the way Lorri and John communicated well and ably lead the project. We have remodeled in the past, both here and elsewhere and the experience with JMA was so much superior! First off, their cadre of skilled tradesman is impressive. Their tile guy, Ciro is a master! He has his own team of skilled artisans that he carefully oversees and the result is magnifique! Every person, from the plumber to the shower glass vendor seemed to genuinely care about our project and that really helps you to relax and feel confident in the process and the outcome.
There were times when we needed guidance and Lorri is such a quick responder that things flowed easily. We added things along the way, a tankless water heater, paint in the master bedroom, and John always exceeded our expectations. John is a tireless general contractor with an eye for symmetry and beauty. I would definitely use them again.

John and Lorri Azar were on time, on budget, Very detail oriented. They did everything to code. All work was done with John and Lorri supervising every step of the way. We have continued to use their plumbing and electrical associates over the years. Great people. Highly recommended

JMA arrived at the exact appointment time to give us an estimate. We accepted their bid after comparing with others because, not only was it less expensive, but also because we immediately sensed John and Lorri were honest and trustworthy ... and our faith was amply rewarded. John provided us with a very capable architect to draw up the plans and the construction started right on time. It finished about a month later than originally scheduled -- but this was due to our making several changes to the original plans. John Azar is a positive, "can do" person and nothing we asked for was too much trouble. His wife, Lorri, is brilliant at keeping track of everything and dropped by often to make sure we were absolutely happy and to answer any questions we might have. We must have been a real pain at times but her positive, smiling demeanor never changed. She and John are a joy to work with and their work is of the highest possible quality.

I thought they were very good at remodeling the bathrooms. They were very easy to work with and punctual. This was a husband and wife team and I mostly communicated with Lori. She was on top of everything. She would let you know what is going and were very active in knowing throughout the process. They were very responsive (email and phone).

THEY TRIED HARD TO DO THEIR BEST. THINGS WERE JUST UNORGANIZED, BUT YOU CAN EXPECT THAT WITH ANY CONSTRUCTION COMPANY. THE CONSTRUCTION AND PERMITS, CITY LAWS AND THE FUNCTIONING OF THE CONSTRUCTION BUSINESS, ANY CONSTRUCTION TO YOUR HOUSE IS A FRUSTRATION.
