Grayson Termite & Pest Control

Everything went well. There was an issue with the computer accidentally double booking and I had to reschedule, but once that issue was addressed, the service was excellent.

I called Grayson when I saw what I thought was termite damage on corner of our roof.  Morgan came out and informed me that the damage appeared to be dry rot.  The remainder of the house, including the attic crawl space was also inspected at no cost, and I was happy to find out that there was no evidence of any termite infestation.  Additional dry rot damage was located at the bottom of one of the corners of the garage door frame.

Morgan was very professional and honest.  He could have told me that I had a major termite problem.  However, he told me that the issue was dry rot and provided me with a reasonable estimate for repair.

I used Grayson to repair/replace the damaged wood and was satisfied with the work.  Thanks, Grayson.  I do recommend them and would use Grayson again when needed.

The crew was the BEST. Very nice, pleasant, and trustworthy to work with, patient with my asking questions and requesting additional repairs that were not first identified. As they got into the job we found more that needed repaired and they were very good at taking the time to do the job right. Not just patch but to actually replace the rotted wood. Morgan Vine was awesome with keeping me abreast and informed of all charges incurred and items not on the original request. There were no suprises when the final bill came in. More impressive was no funding was requested until the job was completly finished! Very timely and effecient and professional workmanship on all tasks. Would highly recommend and utilize their services. If I have other projects they will be one of the first I call to see if they can accomodate my needs. Again the crew, Morgan, Richard and Greg along with Tanner were tops.

Background: I didn't hire or pick Grayson, the seller of the house picked and paid for everything. I'm just the unfortunate recipient.
Theft: They came out to the house twice. Each day they came out, the next day a ladder was missing. The first time it was an extension ladder, the second time a regular one. No. I can't prove they took them. But you had to have access to the house to get them - so that leaves the REALTOR or Grayson. The house was otherwise, unoccupied.
Inspection: You have one job. Find termite and dry rot issues. They did find some - but certainly not all. Like the pile of termite frass under the master bedroom window that you could see from 12 ft away. They missed that. In fact, I was so unimpressed with their ability to find termite issues, that I insisted the entire house be tented. That way it didn't matter that they missed a bunch.
Repair: I had a chance to talk to the sub contractor who did the repair. He assured me he was a master carpenter that used to work in Beverly Hills and that he occasionally helped out his son. He did a horrible job. The finish quality was horrible. He replaced some interior moulding on interior window trim with exterior rough siding! Oh my God. He used caulk to attempt to fill a 2and quot; x 1and quot; gap in the outside. It looks like absolute crap. You'd think that since I told him I needed to get a lot of other work done, he would have tried to get just one thing - just one - looking really good. Sort of as a show piece to say and quot;I know everything else I did was crap - but here - look here - this is what I CAN do if I try. Nope. Just absolutely horrible quality. The minimum was done and to no particular standards at all. I would never ever hire him to do anything ever.
Tenting: Well, it's too soon to tell if they did a good job. It comes with a three year warranty - so we'll see. Before they tented, the house had a really pretty weathervane on the top. After they tented, we found it tossed in the shrubs. But hey, at least they didn't steal it like the ladders.

Grayson Termite did a very good job for us. Nick answered all our questions and was very responsive. Their cost was the most reasonable of 5 quotes that I got. Also, since we work out of a home office, we appreciated that his sub-contractor for Ventura County, Tri Fume, was able to do the job over the weekend so we were out of the house as short a time as possible - we left at 10am Saturday and returned at 10am Monday. Tri Fume left our premises in good order with only one small mishap - a broken sprinkler riser, that I was able to replace in about 10 minutes. They worked with us to preserve as much of the planting near the house as possible. I recommend Grayson Termite and Tri Fume.

He was very good. He was very prompt for the appointment. He was very knowledgeable and not an alarmist, and if I had a question, he told me about it and that a lot of people had it and there wasn't a problem. He was very reassuring. His estimate was right on and that is exactly what I paid him. He had someone else that he uses do the woodwork for him, and he was very good and prompt and cleaned everything up afterward and left everything beautiful. He told us that it would take a little longer when he realized that he couldn't finish it in one day. He came back the next day and told us that we were welcome to come and look at the process. He went to get something and the person doing the woodwork gave me his number, called me right back and came within minutes. They were very reliable. He was recommended by someone who does real estate work and uses him quite a bit.
