We purchased a new home and this company was the one who did the mold inspection. They detected high levels in kitchen due to an old leak and so we asked them to do the remediation post closing. They did a ball park estimate on the inspection report but never provided me with a detailed work order to sign off on. I wasn’t home when they came back to do the work and when I arrived I found the entire kitchen, including the cabinetry taken apart and scattered around along with some of the appliances. The original person that I was dealing with Jeff, wasn’t there, only his workers, so I called him to find out what was going on...He said that he did what I asked, based on the inspection and when I asked how much it was going to cost he said $4,700. I almost had a heart attack. Nothing was clear or signed off on before starting the work and I explained that, but after his explanation in a very aggressive tone I figured it was partly my error and agreed, hoping that it would all work out. His workers left at 3:30 and left my kitchen covered in plastic, I couldn’t tell what exactly was done. I called several times to get an update on when the plastic could come down to access the kitchen and make sure that the mold was remedied. Jeff finally came a few days later after I complained that the smell of mold was still very strong. He cans with an ozone machine which he left for a couple of hours to try to get rid of the smell. I asked him about the retesting to determine that the area was mold free and he then came back to do the test and told me that his office would send the results so that i could pay the invoice. He came back a couple of days later to remove the plastic as he said the results looked good. I asked to see the results and again he said that his office would send them. Never got the results, only the invoice which now read a whopping $5,150.00!!! I spoke the office manager and explained that I need the results in order to pay and she said that it’s the company policy to send them AFTER payment is received. I explained that besides the extraordinary bill, that it made no sense to pay for something without knowing for sure that it was fixed...She responded by saying that they would put a lien on my home if payment wasn’t received immediately. It hasn’t even been 30 days since we received the invoice, that speaks volume about their customer service. I have yet to speak to the company owner though I’ve asked to have him call me. I have remodeled over 50 homes in my lifetime and have NEVER encountered this type of unprofessional behavior, business practices, and blatant overcharging. I haven’t even disputed the invoice nor that there is no signed estimate, I am simply requesting proof that the remediation was successful by means of the lab results, by them denying me that evidence raises even more questions....I would not recommend Alpure Environmental to anyone and will be sure to let all of the real estate brokers in the area know about this horrible experience.
