R & M Quality Doors and Windows did an excellent job, Michael, Ron and their staff were very professional and informative during the installation. After everyday they would do a full site cleanup (haul away old materials/debris). I would recommend R & M to anybody who needs windows or doors, great service and communication.

The sale process was no pressure and very professional. This should get kudos, especially in an industry riddled with high pressured sales tactic and price manipulating industry. We are very satisfied with what we got and the sale process.
Once work started, they finished the job within 3 days, but they couldn't do the detail work of applying the "knockdown" texture (which exists on my other walls) on the drywalls. I was unfortunately rather busy on Day 3, so that they left the job without having me look at the finished products. Later, I was stunned by how unbalanced the two bedroom windows were at first sight: one was higher than the other. After ordering a laser level, I measured the vertical offset between the two window sills to be 5/16", very noticeable by the naked eye. The sill of the window on the right is also slanted: about 3/16" lower on one side.
I had been using another contractor to remodel another unit and the rest of my home -- I have been very happy with his service. He immediately noticed (with his naked eye) that the window sills in the living room were doubly arched (probably the vertical casing and some stud were a tad long). Upon putting a long level on each window sill, one could see two streaks of light between the level and each window sill. Once he pointed this out to me, I could also notice the issue with my naked eye. He advised not to adjust the windows, but to ask for a refund because any messing around now requires cutting into the finished window frames & sills, and that might increase the chance of leakage (for water, insects, etc.) Besides, given that R&M had done a poor job in each and every one of 4 windows, why should I give them a 5th chance?
I called R&M's office to report the problem and the secretary promised to relay the message to Ron the foreman. They ignored me for a week but responded to my second complaint by e-mail with photo attachments. Ron finally visited a month after the job was complete to inspect the windows. He acknowledged the problems and offered to adjust 3 out of the 4 window sills, as long as I provide extra touch-up paint for the wall and trim. But the offset between the 2 bedroom windows was too serious to be fixed by adjusting the window sill(s) alone. In fact, the slant in the right window sill is such that if the lower side is pushed up as Ron suggested, the right window would become even higher (more than 5/16") than the already low left window. At least at the inspection, he acknowledged that fixing this offset requires reinstalling the left window, something difficult and time-consuming to do (but he later denied that he said that). I asked him to give me some refund for not fixing it (because he would lose money over just the labor). After talking to Mike the sales guy, he only offered $250 as a total refund.
I did not want R&M to touch my place anymore because of the poor quality they exhibited, plus, I really didn't want to postpone moving in further as I was also paying rent elsewhere. I already had the place professionally cleaned ($150 plus tips) so additional work means I need to shell out another $150 for cleaning, let alone more time lost and cost of paint. I requested a $800 total refund, an amount I deem reasonable because 1) at 10% of the total cost, R&M still makes a profit; 2) it would cost me at least twice as much to hire another contractor to fix up the mess. I tried to negotiate with each of Ron and Mike, but they refused to increase the refund from the pitiful $250 (they responded to at most half my e-mails or phone calls). As of now, I am still living with these defective windows -- an everyday eyesore, and I have not had a single penny of refund from R&M.
