NICHOLLS CONSTRUCTION

While the quality of the home was acceptable, the site work by the contractor (Nicholls) had numerous defects. He promised to fix defects, but what few repairs he did, were worse than original work. Supports on rear deck were defective. Roof on garage was improperly done. Seams on all the gutters leaked. Foundation (type 433) was not properly done and was 3" too low on west side. Rainwater collected under house, because lot was not graded properly, plus sink drainpipe was never connected to sewer drain line. Sprinkler system was set only 1 inch under the lawn and half sprinkler heads were defective. I called the manufacturer, but they were no help in getting defects fixed. The same for County building inspectors. I contacted State Contractor board, but they would only investigate, but not award monetary damages. So we have to go to court to recover $45,000 in repairs. Never again will I buy a manufactured home, not from this or any other company.

NEW FLOOR CREAKING UNDER CARPET. NEW OAK CABINETRY FADED SPOTS. EXTERIOR/INTERIOR PAINT UNPROFESSIONAL. CLUMPED PAINT ALL OVER HOME. FRONT DOOR REPLACED TWICE. HUMPED FLOOR IN BATHROOM. TOOK TO LONG TO DO RE-WORK. THE HOME COST $104,000. REPAIRS WERE UNDER WARRANTY AND WERE INCLUDED IN PURCHASE OF THE HOME, BUT I WOULD HAVE ESTIMATE $2000 IN REPAIRS. AFTER WE PURCHASED OUR FIRST NEW HOME IN THE BAY AREA FROM OUR ADVANTAGE REALTOR, THE GOOD SERVICE STOPPED. IT WAS AS IF WE WERE PLACED ON HOLD AND PUT OFF EACH TIME WE CALLED TO REMIND THEM THAT WE WERE WAITING FOR A RESPONSE. WE DID NOT APPRECIATE IT AND HAD TO GO OVER THEIR HEADS TO MANAGEMENT TO GET ANYTHING DONE RIGHT. EACH TIME A REPAIR MAN CAME OUT, THE WORK WAS NOT DONE PROFESSIONALLY, IN OUR OPINION. MY HUSBAND IS A CARPENTER BY TRADE AND WAS SHOCKED AT THE QUALITY OF WORK THAT WAS DONE. EVERY TIME THEY ATTEMPTED TO REPAIR IT, THEY MADE IT WORSE IN MOST CASES.
