Although our back-yard fence is not all that old, we had two posts that had rotted out at the base, and the section of fence was ready to collapse at any time! Unfortunately, apparently fence-service companies are busy these days, because none of the companies that I've dealt with in the past would come out for a small job. Fortunately, I called Mid Peninsula Fencing, and the owner (Gilbert Lumas) came out to look at the job. Although they told me on the phone that they have a $750 minimum fee for a job, Gilbert said "Well, I'm the owner, and I can quote what I want!". Anyway, we discussed a variety of options, then agreed on replacing three posts and one section of fence which was older and in poor condition. He gave me a $600 quote, I agreed, and we scheduled the following Wednesday to do the work. BTW, unlike many contractors, he didn't require any money up front! However getting the job done, ended up being quite the adventure, because a couple of days later a massive storm rolled through, and the storm was still active when the day of the work came by, and we postponed the work "until the weather clears up". So the following week we had a short break in the storm, and even had a little sun! I got a call from their office, and office manager said "If you can get someone to unlock the gate, we'd like to get the job done now while it's dry!!" My wife unlocked the gate, and they darted in and got the job done in a couple of hours, before the downpour continued in the afternoon; and in spite of the rush, the job is beautifully and professionally done!! I've never dealt with a contractor before, who was so alert and pro-active in dealing with an unpredictable situation, especially for a small job that no other company even wanted to be bothered with. Thank you, Mid Peninsula Fencing, for your excellent work!!
