Wow, what a great experience. After trying a half-dozen places that either didn't call back, didn't have an appointment for at least a month, or offered only a 90-day warranty on their work, I called Alpine. Ken was available within a week, and he called ahead to ask if he could arrive a little early. We had Ken out to look at our furnace and A/C. The furnace took some time to diagnose, but tightening a slightly loose/sagging inducer motor, and removing the motor's cover, seems to have cured the rattling noise on start up. Another company wanted $800 to replace the inducer motor and wouldn't guarantee it would solve the problem. Ken also noted an issue with the thermostat's programming that was causing the furnace fan to come on before it was needed, He couldn't fix it on-site, but he said he'd do a bit of research and call me with a solution. [He never called back -- I need to follow up.] The A/C was a simple fix -- one of my contractors apparently removed the fuses and didn't replace them. Total cost for an hour of his time, including the $75 service charge and the fuses: $125. (Actually $130 -- I gave him an extra $5 because I had to use a credit card.) That's a great deal, and now we have a friendly and knowledgeable HVAC guy we can count on. Plus he's local (he generally only works in Fremont, Newark and Union City). Thanks Ken!

I couldn't have been happier about the service, cost, and professionalism. Ken provided prompt service at very competitive pricing. He was detailed in his explanation of the problem, very knowledgeable, and the repair was limited to the specific problem, giving a strong sense of credibility and trustworthiness.

i had been trying to work with a single person heating/air conditioning company, to install AC, that I had used 13 years ago. That didn't work out, but I was left with some AC equipment.
I called Alpine because they had many recommendations from people in on my neighborhood Yahoo group. I have to admit that I certainly didn't sound very intelligent when I called - I hadn't yet learned much about AC. When I told the guy who answered the phone that I was hoping to use some of the equipment that I had already paid for, he let me know that they wouldn't install any equipment but their own and he made it plain that he wasn't interested in dealing with me. I felt like a complete idiot after speaking with him.
The next company I called, found on Angie's list, was very pleasant to deal with and they did a great job on the installation and worked with me on using or trading for the equipment I had bought.

After having PGand E come out and discover a leak in the heater at my almost 92 year old father's residence, they turned off the heater and told me it needed repairng. I found Alphine Heating and Air and am I glad I did. They are totally honest and the whole experience was a positive one.

Very well, both men were professional, thorough, answered my questions, gave me advice when I asked on energy saving tips.

THE OVERALL EXPERIENCE WAS GOOD. HOWEVER THEY TOOK A LITTLE TOO LONG IN GIVING ME AN APPOINTMENT AND ALSO A WHILE IN COMING BACK TO REPLACE THE A/C UNIT. ONCE THEY CAME THEY WORKED QUICKLY AND LEFT EVERYTHING UP AND RUNNING.
