April, 2014 we had another plumber install a new water heater in our garage. Unfortunately he failed to secure the earthquake straps to studs so when the Napa earthquake happened the expansion tank collapsed causing a leak. He also failed to prime the recirculating equipment installed on the original equipment and it grinded to a stop at 2:00am the next morning, claiming it was a coincidence. I had to pay for a new device.
After the earthquake I called Ken Mays plumbing, they arrived very shortly thereafter, even though the earthquake had caused damage everywhere. He reset the expansion tank, braced it correctly, installed a cap on a gas line in the garage where an appliance had been removed, (even our house inspector didn't see this), reset the recirculating pump properly, reset my seismic shut off value. All $50 per hour cheaper than the last plumber. Professional, knowledgeable, courteous. I recommend them to all my neighbors.
I cut and cleaned all of the fittings and assembled them in place, only awaiting their workman.
I showed the workman the assembled fittings and then I left for my work.
During the day he soldered together fittings, some incorrectly. My wife messaged me photos for me to approve the work, from which photos I identified the mistakes the Ken Mays workman made, and issued instructions for correction.
