Description of Work: I placed an ad on Craig's List looking to buy a set of used stairs from an old mobile home or so. We only needed function, not form to access an outbuilding on our property. This man answered the ad, claiming to be a carpenter and my husband and I decided to just go ahead and have a set of stairs built by him. We discussed payment of of materials (we would put them on our credit card through the store) and he would pick them up once he had given us an agreed upon bid for the work. I did tell him there would be a written contract between us before the first nail was driven and he laughingly agreed. We set a date and time for the bid......tick tock. Tick tock. Tick tock. I do not call people and ask where they are if they are not on time. Either, God forbid you had a bad thing happen and can't call or you're a slacker and I don't want you in that case anyway. I checked my email the next day and there is one from this piece of work, time stamped five minuets before the appointment, saying he didn't want the job. Times must not be as hard as we're hearing and my phone must not have understood that is already working for me and must ring if someone calls to cancel......oh, wait...that call didn't come in. Not reliable and cowardly.
