The job was plagued with mistakes and reworked caused by John not overseeing the job, Only showing up when I would call or text him with issues. These mistakes cost me hundreds of dollars in lost materials ( its okay though John over measured and we had several hundred dollars of extra material to use!)
The last day of the job John and his Sub-Contractor got in a huge fight in front of my house over getting paid , again very professional ! John walked the job and started pointing out things he wasnt happy with as if the last day on the job was the time to do this. When I tried to explain to John how these things were unacceptable and I basically acted as the Contractor and mangaged the job ( multiple trips to Lowes to pick up supplies his crew didn't have ) John explained it was not his fault the Sub didnt have the equipment , or a truck large enough to pick up materials , BUT DIDNT I HIRE INTEGRITY PLUS FLOORS TO DO THE JOB! John and Integrity Plus Floors have been paid in full and my baseboards are not complete as he measured that short!
John had every excuse in the world why this things were happening anything from , he was doing his own floor at his house, to his wife had to go to the hospital.
Bottom line is there is lots of other flooring places in this area , use one of the them , or better yet hire an installer yourself and save thousands of dollars you will end up doiing it anyways, trust me . Need more details on this complete nightmare of a job, I would love to share so you do not make the same mistake I did email @ [email protected]
John's customer service is very lousy! Initially, he came to talk to my husband and I about the job and gave us full assurance that he would be able to complete the job. He sent an unlicensed worker to complete the job and never came back to supervise the job. We called him several times to come and supervise the job or to discuss details of the job. He would only wanted to correspond over the phone with us. After removing all of the carpet from our stairs, his unlicensed worker said that he was unsure if he knew how to complete our stairs (2 staircases). So we called John to talk to him about it and he said that our stairs were warped or pitched but they would be able to fix them. Our home is a fairly new estate home (7 years old) and we didn't agree that the stairs were warped so we called another contractor (a staircase specialist) for an estimate of what it would cost to fix our stairs. The contractor laughed and said that there was nothing wrong with our stairs and that he could install our wood elegantly on our stairs and he didn't need to fix them first. We spoke to John and explained to him that we no longer felt comfortable having him do our stairs because we didn't believe that they knew how to do it and we were not prepared to have a reconstruction of our already elegant staircases done. John was upset and wanted to still charge of us for the stairs. After going back and forth with him he finally decided to remove the 2 staircases from the bill.
His worker installed the wood flooring in four bedrooms, a loft, and four hallways. The installer did a good job installing the wood. Whenever the installer transitioned to a different room in the home he changed the direction of the wood depending on the flow of the home. When John did finally come to my home to supervise the job, he informed that we will be charged for every wood direction change regardless of if it was going with the flow of the home or not. John never previously discussed an extra charge to change direction of the wood. He was never there to supervise and tell us otherwise either. While the installer was install the wood he dropped wood glue all over the wood all over my house. He didn't realize that he had drop the wood glue so it dried on the beautiful, very expensive, wire brushed white oak floors that he had just installed! When I brought it to his attention he attempted to wipe it up however it had already hardened. There were approximately 40 drops of glue everywhere over 2500 sq. ft. of flooring. We called John to explain what happened and he informed us that he would be sending another worker out to scrub the glue off of the wood floor with a wire brush and some oil. The worker came over and scrubbed the wood with the wire brush as best he could however some of it would not come off, some areas showed signs of wood bleaching from the constant scrubbing, in two areas it caused the wood to be lifted up which then caused splinters for my kids in the foot and buttocks while they were playing on the floor in their home! He also never completed the installation. There are T-moulding's and stairnoses where the floor ends and the stairs begin that still need to be installed! It has been one big nightmare!
This situation has still never been resolved! John refused to replace the wood planks that his worker ruined. He has been unreasonable throughout the entire process! We paid him $17,000.00 to date and he sent us another bill for $5000.00 from his attorney. We are currently in litigation!
I'm not sure if I will be using anyone else from Angie's List! This is the worst contractor experience I have ever had!
After meeting John, the owner of Integrity Plus Floors, we felt confident that he and his crew would do a good job for us. Man, that is an understatement. Our two installers, Raymond and Mike, arrived right on time on Monday morning and after reviewing what the job included, they went right to work on the removal of the old carpet and tile flooring. After they completed the tear down, two points were identified as being uneven in our living room. Mike and Raymond worked hard to grind down the two high points and made our cement slap perfectly level before the installation of the laminate flooring. Also, they were very careful while moving our furniture and never made a mark on our freshly painted walls. I have to give our installers the highest of praise as they were not only capable and thorough, but also very polite and courteous. This was a great experience and I highly recommend this company.
