GARRINGER PAINTING

We called and called and finally got Garringer to come and look at our house. He painted it quite a few years before, and did a very good job, so we wanted to hire him again. We agreed on a price (the highest quote by the way) and a date in September 2013. He did not show up until we called and called until mid October 2013. When he did come, his crew was overheard b******* about the job (its a 3 story house) etc. Then Garringer said he could not paint the house because it had lead based paint on it once, and thet he was not certified to paint the house, despite the fact that he did paint it previously. He just left and never returned, leaving off shutters here and there, etc. I called and pleaded with him, trying to come up with other alternatives as it was late in the painting season, and we turned down other offers etc. He was adamant about not painting the house and offered no solution. We tried calling the other contractors but they were not interested as it was so late in the season. Finally we did find a painter (Keith's painting in Valley Springs who did a great job) so we finally did get out house painted. I am not sure what the actually issue was, but it was not lead based paint. The house had be painted 3 times so any residual paint had been scrapped or sanded off. And, we discuss the lead paint issue many times before they arrived. I think either his crew did not want to paint the house, or he found a more lucrative job as he does a lot of commercial painting. In any case, we were left with no painter with no notice and no negotiation. Very unprofessional.
