Agreed to a morning start, got a call 2 days prior suggesting a start from noon-2:00. Team arrived at noon, began loading boxes (I had packed everything except some pictures, and had not taken apart a custom bed). Had contracted for 3 movers at a $540 estimated total cost, discovered that packing art was $30 an article (after they were finished) -- and also discovered that mover #4 would cost extra -- and they ran over their estimated time as well. It appears that the hourly rate is their loss leader, and packing materials drive their margin -- wish I'd known that in advance -- as it was my total move costs were an exact 100% overrun. Needless to say I wasn't happy -- but you don't get the final price until they arrive at the new location and are ready to start unloading -- so you can either pay storage charges PLUS still have to pay to have the truck unloaded, or take your lumps and vow never to use them again.
