We are very pleased with our lovely new driveway. From the moment I contacted Jerry from seeing the listing on Angie's List to the moment his crew packed up and left when their work was done, it was a great experience. Jerry is a good guy and easy-going. His price was fair and he took the time to explain to me in layman's terms what he recommended and what they were going to do while also asking me what would be my preferences. He understood that we were operating on a budget and so he recommended resurfacing (as opposed to totally replacing the driveway with new materials). He and his brother were there on the day the work was done to ensure all was going properly. I would highly recommend them. They are professional, courteous and obviously good at what they do. Thank you!

It's a very big driveway. We had other estimates and he was really reasonable. He said he was from Angie's List so we trusted him. It's all by one man. He's in charge. They were very efficient, very friendly and very easy to work with.

In August 2014, Jerry from Phillipps Specialty Paving  came to give me an estimate on repaving a driveway that was in very bad shape.  He was prompt, very professional, and had a friendly manner.  Never did I feel that he was trying to rush through this appointment and be on his way.  He looked over the job, talked to me at length of the options I had, measured thoroughly and expressed his concerns and solutions on how to improve drainage and avoid water getting in the three adjacent garages.  I received the estimate on email that same day and the 3 references I had asked for.
From August to November 2014, I received estimates from other paving contractors. The costs varied, Jerry's estimate was the highest, but it was clear to me that he had an excellent work ethic, immediately replying to my email questions and concerns throughout  the 3 months, excellent referrals from previous customers, and would be there to help with any issue after the job was done.  To me, the other contractors were lacking in these important areas.  No more thinking was necessary, Phillipps Specialty Paving had the job, I signed the contract.
On December 29, 2014, Jerry arrived promptly, stayed until all information and directions were given to the supervisor and crew.  The driveway was prepped, resurfaced and supervised by Bob and a crew of 3 experienced men who worked diligently all day.
My advice to anyone who has driveway in need of repair, is to call Jerry Phillipps for an estimate, you won't be disappointed.

"This review was posted incorrectly to our listing. We did NOT work for this person. He is in Texas. Our only location is in Glendale, California."

Jerry Phillipps is honest, sincere and the kind of person we all want to deal with. Jerry worked hard to give me a fair estimate of the costs of the job. And, maybe most importantly, Jerry told me that part of the job was probably not worth the cost.
The crew did a masterful job at demo and installing the pavers.
I highly recommend these guys.
Honesty. Hard to find.

Jerry Phillips is a very friendly, professional guy with a lot of pride in his work. Our driveway is long, steep and was in terrible shape. He explained in detail what needed to be done, offered us three paving options and their costs, and did the work beautifully and on time. We are very happy with his work and the beautiful look of our new driveway!

Jerry Phillipps came by and gave a free on the spot estimate and helped provide a second estimate for our neighbor.  He coordinated both jobs so that both driveways would be done together.  He estimated that the job would take 4 days to complete with two additional days to let the sealant dry.  In the end, his estimate was spot on and we didn't have to wait the extra two days.  The job was completed exactly as he laid out.  We were very satisfied with the work done.

Jerry and his crew arrived at the agreed-upon time on a Monday morning and completed the job the next day as promised.
I did have a problem unrelated to their work: After the job was completed but while the sealcoating was still wet, a person delivering an advertising flyer stepped onto the roped-off driveway, then onto my painted cement front step, leaving a big, black shoe print.  I called Jerry in a panic and he reassured me that they would most likely be able to fix it. He was true to his word, and a day or two later I came home to find that the shoeprint was gone. As I said - a great company to deal with. I would have no hesitation in trusting a larger job to Phillipps, and hope someday to have them back to replace the asphalt with paving stones.

It was just fantastic.  I had 5 other companies come out before I hired Jerry.  They were all much more expensive and didn't offer paving stones.  They all wanted around $14,000 to just put in concrete.  Phillips offered about $11,000 and gave me a referral for a huge paving stone company in this area.  I picked out the stones and Phillips ordered from them.  He arranged for all the delivery of the stones.  He is really easy to deal with.  He came every morning before work started to supervise the people that were doing the actual work.  When there was a little problem he came out right away.  The work that was done is excellent.  It makes my property look so much better.  I would highly recommend them.

Both Mr. Phillips and their crew were professional and set about doing the work which took only 1 day. Amazing! The rating for a "B" on price is only that because I don't have much to compare it to, except concrete, and that is way more expensive. They gave me yellow tape to surround the area with so that passing cars would not drive on it. It looks just great. The reason that I had this done is so that a new garage door could be installed and be straight and flush at the bottom. It works!

They were on time for both the estimate and job. The owners are brothers, one a Registered Civil Engineer and the other a Licensed Contractor. I told them what I wanted and they gave a detailed estimate the next day. I was going out of town and they accomodated my schedule. The end product was great and the price was very resonable.

The plans were finalized working with Jerry Phillipps. You should enter the discussions with definitive ideas of what you want, and preferably, drawn plans showing dimensions but Jerry is pleasant to work with and helpful. The key man leading the crew is Rigo who is a master masonry craftsman, Jerry estimated initially that the job could take three weeks but it was finished in two weeks (6 days a week and 9 hours a day). The crews were constantly supervised by another key member of the team, Jose, and the job site was clean at the end of each day. Each morning would begin with a conference with Rigo or Jerry to discuss any issues. Three full concrete trucks were emptied on this job on two different days. Jerry, Rigo, Jose and the crew demonstrated the utmost in professionalism throughout the job. While the price sounds high (it was a big job), a competing bid from another Angie's List hardscape contractor for substantially the same work was in the $70K range.

THEY WERE ON TIME. THEY WERE VERY POLITE, AND EXPLAINED WHAT WAS GOING ON. THE FINISHED ON TIME, AND DID THE JOB UNDER AN HOUR.
