This repair went very well. This company knew exactly what was needed for a one-story residential chimney and hearth, and worked efficiently. Wilf, who directed the project was professional and very easy to communicate with. He told us exactly what they were going to do and how much it would cost and answered our questions on a daily basis. The different small teams that specialized in certain parts of the work (e.g., filling in the cracks, installing the liner, laying the tile) all were good workers and friendly. Done in good time, and our chimney now works well and looks great!

We got three quotes. One guy wasn't available and another was considerably more expensive. Wilf got the permits and started work only two weeks after I contacted him. The job was done quickly. Great team, polite and punctual. Wilf explained everything in detail and when i asked him to make aesthetic adjustments he did so immediately. He was available throughout on email, text and cellphone. New chimney looks great.

Working with Wilf was a fantastic experience, and our next door neighbor is already working with him after seeing the great work done on our chimney.  His workers did a beautiful job on the work, and they cleaned up really well every day to minimize impact on our neighbor's driveway.  While it was an expensive job, Wilf's quote was extremely competitive compared with other bids I received, and there were no additional costs at the end.  I'd happily recommend him!

I found Parkstone on Angies list and contacted them because of the good reviews and the cost of the jobs listed were in line with what we expected our job to be.  I sent him an inspection report and photos from another vendor.  He contacted me right away and made an appointment for his own inspection.  The owner Wilfe Betke, was prompt and did a quick inspection to verify the info I had already sent him.  He verified that the report we got from a Chimney sweep & Inspection company was accurate and confirmed the chimney would have to be rebuilt.   He sent his bid a few days later which was in line with what we expected.  The original bid we got from The Chimney Sweeper was 25% higher.  We also got a bid from Boston Brick and Stone.  The bid from Boston Brick was exactly the same as Parkstone until I pointed out a complication of our job, then they increased the price.  I went with Partkstone because the owner came out, he seemed knowledgeable, and Chimney rebuild is all he does.  After I return the signed contract to him he contacted me on when the job would start.  He came out with the crew the first day and got them started setting up the scaffolding.  I'm not an expert but the scaffolding appeared to be well set up and safe.  The crews arrived promptly each day, they cleaned up each day and communicated with me on the status.  They missed a couple of days but I was always kept informed about why (concrete setting, waiting for inspection, etc.).  The job was finished on time at the contract price.  I should mention that before I got the formal bid Wilfe offered to bid the job as permitted or non-permitted.  The non-permitted option was much less and it was good to have the option.  We wanted the job permitted which takes longer and is more expensive because we know when you sell a house you have to disclose any non-permitted work.  After the work was done and I had given them the final payment I noticed they missed a spot painting.  This was because a gate was in the way.  I called Wilfe and he sent someone to finish the paint a couple of days later.  Of the 3 bids I got I'm glad we went with Parkstone.

Very professional company.  I contacted Wilf at the recommendation of our home inspector, and he responded very promptly.  He came out, took a look at our 3 chimneys, gave us a detailed estimate, and then his crew performed the work a few weeks later.  We were very satisfied with the entire process.

They guys were at 7am sharp every day that they were working and did a thorough job making sure everything was inspected, up to code, and visually exactly what we had agreed to as well.  The project came in at the exact estimate we were quoted--no surprise costs in the end. They were also significantly less expensive than other quotes we received.

We knew that we had a major problem with our chimney.  Our house dates back to the 1930's and we suffered quite a lot of damage during the Northridge earthquake.  We made other repairs long ago, but kept putting off the chimney until recently when we decided to replace the roof,   As we got estimates for a new roof, the only chimney person that the roofers (separately) recommended was Wilf Betke at Parkstone Construction.  So that's why we hired him.  Redoing the chimney required 3 separate city inspections-- not a small job.  But Wilf's crew was very professional, always prompt, kept the dust and debris from getting into the house, and of course hauled everything away and cleaned up afterwards.  They coordinated with the roofer and passedall city inspections.  We were passed and we are pleased with the results.

I received estimates from several contractors, but was impressed with Wilf's knowledge and his price was the best by far from some of the other contractors.  He could have rebuilt the chimney with the original brick -- was able to obtain a permit to do so -- but I opted for the bond beam because our area is in the earthquake zone.  He was highly recommended not only by Angie's List but also by a couple of real estate agents who had used him for their clients and their own residences.
His work was professional and completed on time.  I would highly recommend him.  Be sure to check him out before signing a contract with someone else.

I had used this company many years ago to partially rebuild my chimney. Unfortunately, the name of the company had changed and I could not locate them when it appeared that I now needed additional work. Initially I contacted two other vendors both of whom came up with wildly expensive bids because they told me I needed much more extensive work than in fact I did.
Fortunately I found Wilf, whose honesty and integrity are noteworthy. Work was performed as promised: on time, with a professional and courteous crew, and a result I know I can trust and depend on. I wouldn't use anybody else for chimney work.

I am a real estate agent and have used Wilfe Betke of Parkstone Construction for 15 years.  He is the best in the business and I have used many others over the years.  He has a Class B Contractor's license as well as being a mason.  He used to also retrofit foundations although he has given that up and only works on chimneys.  If Wilf bids the job, you know it is an honest estimate and will be completed on time in a professional manner.
I don't recommend anyone else.

Wilf and his team came out to repair cracks in the chimney which involved tearing down the existing chimney to the house line and then a bit further to the next line beyond that.  They did the tear down, rebuilt and stucco'd to match the house.  They handled all City inspections and were timely with information and quick to answer any questions that I had.  The work took about 2 weeks including down time for materials to dry, etc.
The job went extremely well.  I had Wilf perform an inspection three (3) years ago when I was buying the house but just got around to being able to do the work.  And it was the perfect year to do so as we had a cold and wet fall and winter and we were warm and snuggly inside with our roaring fireplace!
Wilf and his team are knowledgeable, friendly, professional, timely and extremely hard working. I would not hesitate to use them or refer them again!

Wilf was fantastic. We purchased a house this summer and during the general inspection,  the  inspector flagged some chimney issues, so we called for a chimney repair. The first estimate was quite high, so we brought in Wilf who was recommended by Angie's list as well as a personal friend.

He gave us two estimates as he wouldn't know the full extent of the damage until he started demoing the chimney. Initially he was scheduled to start in early September, but when I asked him he could move the date, he was kind enough to do so when other work was available to him. Took a lot of pressure off our cash flow! Not only that, good news for us that the scope of work was within the lower estimate.

He started work and was finished in about 2.5 weeks. We weren't living in the house until the very end of his work, but when we did overlap with this workers they were professional, prompt and courteous.

He did an excellent job and was a real pleasure to work with, very responsive and professional.

Parkstone was one of four (4) contractors to bid on the rebuild of a 1924 chimney. I am very happy I chose them to do the work. The owner, Wilf, was a pleasure to deal with. He kept me well informed throughout the entire process via email and telephone since I was not able to be onsite on a daily basis. His bid was competitive and his crew did a great job. I am extremely pleased with the overall experience and the result.

Wilf came out and bid the job aggressively. Within 3 days his crew was at the house. The first day the chimney came down. The second day building and permitting began. In about 9 business days the chimney was completed. I had absolutely no issues communicating with Wilf and his crew and the permitting process was seamless. The foliage around chimney was left in good condition, however with the wet weather, the neighbors yard suffered from the foot traffic.
